ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of my Aunt, Mary Lou O'Donnell, 88, born on July 18, 1929 and passed away on November 27, 2017 in Spokane, WA. She was the daughter of Elsie (Winchell) O'Donnell and John Thomas O'Donnell.  She had one brother, Jack Eugene O'Donnell who passed away in 1996.

We will remember her forever.

Mary Lou O'Donnell retired from the US Naval Reserves at the rank of Commander and served for 26 years, including duty in the Philippines during the Korean War.  She retired as the Spokane, WA USNR Unit Commander.

Mary Lou's occupation was a Registered Nurse that served others at the Sunshine Retirement home in Spokane Valley, WA until she retired.

Mary Lou tirelessly volunteered at her beloved Spokane Union Gospel Mission; donating the commercial Ice cream machines and working to screen for tuberculous cases and improve public health of the Gospel Mission community.

Mary Lou was an avid fisher-person, including some Salmon Fish Derby wins for King Salmon and Halibut.  Mary Lou enjoyed reading, classic movies and watching Baseball;  especially her Cleveland Indians and the Seattle Mariners.

She is survived by her nephew John Patrick O’Donnell, Tigard, OR, great-niece Heather Sura Robinette, Ellensburg, WA, and great nephew, Ryan Oliver O’Donnell in Billings, MT.

Mary Lou lived simply and loved greatly.  She will be missed by all. As Barbara Robinette put it best, "She was really the only Aunt I ever had. I will always be grateful for the love and support she gave me."

Mary Lou. Thank you for the many walks around Medical Lake. For the fishing days on Silver Lake and the many games of Yahtzee at the round O'Donnell, table looking out at the water as the sun fell. Thank you for the Mary Lou Ice Cream, the genuine smiles and gentle hugs. Thank you for your acceptance, your encouragement, and your steady friendship for all those years. Never was there a more honest, generous and accepting person. Dear Mary Lou, you have meant so much to me. I will never let you go.
