This memorial website was created to remember and celebrate the life of our loved one, Matthew Welsch. We invite you to leave a tribute below by sharing your expressions of love and memories of Matt.
Matthew Ernest Welsch, 32, passed away unexpectedly on August 14th, 2019. Matt is survived by his two brothers (Anthony and Joseph), his mother (Janefrances), and his father (Ernest). Matt was the grandson of Martin and Augustine (deceased) Rini and Henry and Magdalena (deceased) Welsch.
Matt was born and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area and graduated from Solon High School. He earned his B.S., Biochemistry at The Ohio State University and his PhD in Chemistry from Columbia University in New York City. In 2015, Matt founded Atoms 2 Applications (A2A) and continued as an A2A board member. In 2016, Matt moved to New Haven, Connecticut to join Kleo Pharmaceuticals where he most recently served as Director of Chemical Biology. Matt thrived on the problem-solving challenges of his profession and the impact his research could have on the lives of others. He was admired for his intelligence, work ethic, and creative abilities. Although he struggled through episodes of depression later in his life, he always maintained a quick wit and sharp sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those closest to him. Matt enjoyed various forms of exercise and spending time with loved ones. Matt will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
