Dear Richard,
How good to see your Mum's lovely Memorial.
Constantly in our family's collective memory for the time we are here together.
Both Helene and I also miss her and the memories we have from over the years are even more precious.
From her childhood, the mountain she also had to climb through her ill-health, yet my Sister and you Mother never gave in, yes she cried often with misery, frustration at the hardships she had to suffer, but through it all as she grew into womanhood and faced even more struggles, simply trying to live and overcome her health problems was her ability to fight back.
Her belief in God was much of the fount of inner strength which boyed her up in times of darkness and despair.
We can, as so many others, only gasp in amazement how she came through, grew up into a great person, smiles, joyfulness and forever willing to help a stranger, true Christian charity.
We all think our lives go on forever and with our loving Mavis, her too, we just never thought she would ever leave us, otherwise we should have made much more effort to grasp at any opportunity to meet with her, enjoy those precious family moments.
We're all so bound up with our individual daily affairs, trials and troubles that it is hard to appreciate, even today, that even I, have now reached the impossible age of nearly 83, but don't really believe it, no, I can't be such an old man.
So, dear Richard, both of us here recall the lovely times when we visited you all those years ago, shared our joys and trips out, so many visits together, they are golden memories of us all.
Togetherness, that's what families are all about. I miss my Mum very much too, always.
We'll meet you this year, O.K.
