I was so honored to know Michele. Her quick, dry wit always kept me on my toes. She had grace in the way she handled her health and our group benefited in so many ways from her wisdom. I am truly sorry for your loss. She loved her life with you.

Dearest Bob, It was back in the 1970's that Frances McCoy and I met Michele at UNC-CH where we all worked for the School of Library Science. We have never lost touch, as you know. She fit right in like it was supposed to be. She was amazing in every way. And when she met you, we took you in. And I was so happy to meet with you two when I remarried to Bob R. and we came your way so he could show me where he had lived in Montana. I have all your photos and messages of these last decades. I will always see MO's smile!! My love to you and all the family. Keep in touch. Don't forget us. Sara c. (Sec)

Bob,
I have a bookshelf across from my desk and while I haven't paid much attention to it, lately it has been pulling me to a little plaque that reads 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'. Man, did Michele ever dance!! More importantly, she taught me how to dance in my own storm. I am forever grateful for her love, courage and strength she shared with me and so, so many. May God bless and comfort you Bob now and always.

DuBy: You and I and Mickey go back at least 55 years. It is hard for me to find adequate words to describe how I feel upon her passing. She was like a sister to me - a very nice sister. Even though our contacts were not often, I will miss her and keep a special place for her in my heart. PR

Dear Bob,

I join others in expressing sadness upon hearing of Michele's passing.

As I think back over the years, I also feel we can draw inspiration from her life: her positive nature, her cooperative spirit, her stamina in fighting off the cancer, and the great life that the two of you formed.
If Michele can get this message, I want to say "Good job! - You lived life to the fullest, you helped many people and you served as an inspiration to us."

Bob, Michele truly was an inspiration to us all. Her courage and upbeat attitude during these recent years was always a joy to be around. I know you two loved the Tetons so much. Her spirit will always be with us, especially as we hike a trail, paddle a canoe, hear laughter and see a sunset aglow with the colors of the rainbow. We will all miss her, and pray for strength and courage for you. Call on us anytime for anything.

Bob, So sad to hear of Michele's passing. She is such an amazing person who showed us how to cheerfully endure difficulty. I lost my younger sister (57) to breast cancer over a year ago. Her husband and the kids will be out in a week from NJ. They love Montana so.
I am glad you and Michele had so many years and special occasions in special places together. You did so much for her and out hearts go out to you. We will be praying for your strength and comfort through all of this.

Dear Bob
What words come to mind thinking of Michele? Elegant, tough, smart, kind, strong, lovely........too many attributes to list. You've often implied she made you a better person but we know, together, you made each other better; a true definition of synergy. Yes her passing tears a hole in your heart. We feel the same loss; she touched so many. The good she did; the positive impact she made on you, on me, on all of us will not soon fade and will surely be passed on. What more can any of us ask than to leave the place better than we found it?  Kit&Ted
