Mr. Wiley Cammon, Jr. was born August 20, 1927 in Lee County, Alabama to the late Wylie and Mary Hart Cammon.

At an early age, he united with the Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Opelika, AL. He served faithfully as an Usher and Junior Deacon. Mr. Cammon attended the Public Schools of Lee County, Alabama and Adult Education classes at Lanier High School, Lanett, AL.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Miss Luellar Howard. To this union one son was born, Jerome Cammon. After moving to New York, he united with First Baptist Church of Crown Heights. He served faithfully on the Usher Board, Cuisine Ministry, United Church Usher Association of Brooklyn, Long Island and Bronx, Transportation Ministry and Parliamentary United Church Association of America. He served his country in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge July 5, 1954. He was employed with Chemical Bank and retired after more than 30 years of service.

After relocating to Lanett, AL, Bro. Cammon joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Louis Upshaw. He served dutifully as President of the Usher Ministry, Member of the Adult Male Sunday School Class, Parking Attendant and Bible Study. He also served as the President of the United Usher Association of the Bowen East District.

Wylie Cammon, Jr. departed this life on Saturday, February 14, 2015 surrounded by dear loved ones at his home.

Mr. Cammon leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Luellar Howard Cammon, Lanett, AL; one son, Jerome Cammon, Lanett, AL; one grandson, Jerome Hunter (Marie) Cammon, Boston, MA; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Cammon, Layla Cammon, Miley Cammon and Charlye Cammon all of Boston, MA; two nephews, Rev. Willie Cammon, Jr., Chicago, IL and Edgar (Deborah) Lamar, Birmingham, AL; three nieces, Jerry Lene Hawkins, Birmingham, AL, Thelma Ingram, Ellenwood, GA and Clementine (Lester) Ragsdale, Atlanta, GA; a devoted cousin, Annie Ruth Cammon, Opelika, AL; two sisters-in-law, Doris Woody, Lanett, AL and Sadie (Rev. James) Whitted, Montgomery, AL ; and, a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
