Funeral services for Nila Hasenkamp age 65 of West Point, NE will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Point, NE. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Beemer, NE. Visitation will be on Wednesday from noon to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran School, the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice in Nila’s name.

Nila passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE.

Nila Mae (Horst) Hasenkamp was born on August 7, 1950 at West Point, NE to Arthur and Vernie (Zeng) Horst. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Nila attended Zion-St. John Parochial School and graduated from Wisner High School in 1968.

On October 5, 1968, she was united in marriage to Stafford Hasenkamp at Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner. The couple lived in Stanton Co. for a while and since has resided in Cuming County. Nila had worked at Wimmer’s Meat Products and at J.C. Penney’s in the Catalog Department prior to working at St. Francis Memorial Hospital for over the last 25 years.

Nila was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid, and was the chairperson of Parish Education Board. She participated in the Cuming County Relay for Life. Nila was heavily involved in 4-H, Open and Pinto and Paint Horse Shows for 35 years all over the United States. She also assisted her grandchildren in their 4-H projects. Nila enjoyed traveling with her friends and loved tending to her flowers.

Son- Bill and wife Lisa Hasenkamp of Beemer, NE

Daughter- Shelly and husband Ron Uhing of Elkhorn, NE

Grandchildren-Trevor Hasenkamp, Taron Hasenkamp, Madisyn Uhing, Jacob Uhing and Colton Uhing

Brother-Gary and Sandy Horst of Stanton, NE

Sister-Jeanette Hubbard of Omaha, NE

3 Nieces and 2 Nephews also survive her.

Nila was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-Shirley Horst.
