Nina Jean Fossi (Owens) passed away on Oct. 27th, 2021, in Voorhees, NJ, due to complications from dementia. She had been battling the disease for the past two years.

Jean, as she was known to all her friends and relatives, was born in the tiny town of Lamero, KY, on October 15th, 1932. She was one of 11 children born to Bertha and George Owens. The family lived on a farm, and she attended a one-room schoolhouse. After high school, she left Kentucky to join some of her sisters in Dayton, OH, where she worked as a waitress.

While working at an Italian restaurant in Dayton, she met her future husband, Robert Fossi. Jean and Bob were married on April 15th, 1955. They had a long and happy marriage and were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005 before Bob passed away some months later. They had three children, Stephen, Linda and Edward.

The children grew up in a suburb of Reading, PA where the Fossi household was always a popular spot with the neighborhood kids, thanks to Jean’s excellent cooking skills and her Southern hospitality. An avid reader, Jean was also a music lover, especially country music. Jean moved to Marlton, NJ in 2013, to be close to daughter Linda.

Jean is survived by her three children, Stephen (Denise), Linda, and Edward. She also had three grandchildren, Michael Fossi (Natalia), Anthony Fossi (Kristin), and Laura Halligan (Matt); and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Fossi and Lucas Fossi. She is also survived by dozens of nieces and nephews.

Jean was universally loved for her ready smile and generous nature. A private service celebrating her life will be held in spring 2022.
