His memories will live with us forever.

OBITUARY

Dr. Nowamagbe Austin Omoigui, pre-eminent interventional cardiologist in Columbia, South Carolina and foremost Nigerian-American civil-military historian, shed his earthly bonds and was called to the Lord on April 18, 2021.

Preceded in passing by his beloved mother, Mrs. Grace Onaiwu Omoigui, Dr. Omoigui is survived by his wife Moira Omoigui, their children (Ikpomwosa Omoigui, Ighiwiyisi Omoigui, Iyegbekosa (Egbe) & Izevbokun (Izzy) Omoigui, Iyare Omoigui and Iriagbonse Omoigui), his father, Surveyor Daniel Aiyanyo Omoigui and his four siblings (Dr. Sota Omoigui, Ifueko M. Omoigui Okauru, Eghosa Omoigui and Nosa Omoigui), their spouses and In-laws, nephews and nieces; aunts, uncles and cousins; friends and colleagues.

Born in the United Kingdom on March 28, 1959 and raised in Nigeria, Dr. Omoigui was a precocious talent who set records everywhere he went. He graduated from high school (with the ordinary level school certificate as it was known at the time) at age 15, from Federal Government College, Warri in Nigeria. He graduated with distinction and set a record as the first in the history of the school (and one of the first in the West Africa) to obtain a Grade A1, the highest available grade, in Fine Arts.  In 1975, after a year at King’s College in Lagos, Nigeria (where he had entered for the advanced level, higher school certificate as it was known at the time), he gained admission to study Medicine at Nigeria’s premier medical school, the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.  In 1981, he graduated at the top of his medical school class with distinction and delivered the valedictory speech. After the required internship (as a house officer), he spent a mandatory year of service at the Nigeria Army Brigade of Guards where he set new records by coordinating a never-done-before air, sea, and land military disaster drill, and received a National Award in recognition of his contributions from the then President of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, in 1983.

In the U.S., he did his post-graduate medicine residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, NY and later served as Chief Resident at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He obtained a master’s degree in public health with particular interest in Health Resource Management and Policy, from the University of Illinois.  Nowa completed a residency in cardiology at Stanford University and in Interventional Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic (America’s best heart center). After relocating to the U.S., Nowa continued his tradition of collecting awards and setting records. He was awarded the Timothy Beckett (1992) and Hewlett Packard (1993) Awards, and awards for excellence as a post-doctoral fellow in Cardiovascular Disease.

He set the record among clinical fellows at the Cleveland Clinic for the highest number of abstracts submitted and presented (as first author) at a single National meeting (American Heart Association 1994). Dr. Omoigui also published numerous research papers in many of the world’s most prestigious medical journals. Importantly, he set a new record when he became the first Nigerian (and African) immigrant, and perhaps the youngest ever to do so, to be Chief of Cardiology at the University of South Carolina in December 1994 at the age of 35.

In 1996, he was the Chief of Cardiology, the Program Director of Cardiology Fellowship, Director at the VA Medical Center, and the Chairman of the Governing Board of Regents. During the Desert Storm military campaign, Nowa logged into the high-level war-room that was full of military Generals, discussing tactics and strategies of military warfare.

Dr. Omoigui was an academic researcher, a masterful orator, a precociously gifted painter, a world-renowned military historian and was widely recognized for his scholarship on national security, civil-military relations, national and traditional history, and politics. In fact, many would arguably call him a genius.

Prior to the advent of the Web, Nowa would casually give you facts and figures about events. By the time you checked, he would be correct about the date, time, place and everything else. His brain was like a walking encyclopedia. Despite his record-setting achievements and his intellectual prowess, he was always humble, easily approachable, and always ready to help friends, family and his younger colleagues who sought his counsel.

Known for his intellectual sagacity, his polymathic breadth and depth of knowledge, expertise and interests, and his charmingly disarming sense of humor coupled with the loudest laugh this side of the Atlantic Ocean, Dr. Omoigui was a force of nature. Ever simple yet beautifully complex, he combined the perspicacious erudition of a sage with the boundless curiosity and passion of a child. He had an encyclopedic brain and a beautiful heart. He was sui generis, one of a kind, and just a genuinely good person.

Nowa was a shooting star traveling high above on its earthly journey, and lighting up the world below, in an incandescent myriad of colors, before flaming out in a blaze of glory. While on this earth, Nowa ensured that his name was engraved in record books for the ages, and as he has shed his garb of mortality and transcended into immortality at the throne of God, we pray that God engraves his name among His greatest servants and grant him glory and eternal life in Heaven.

His life and legacy will stand as an unceasing source of pride, comfort, and joy to all of us. There are truly things Death cannot steal.

We are immensely grateful to God for the life he lived, the service he gave to family and country, and most importantly, his love, care for, and devotion to, his wife, children and family and friends. We are also thankful to all those that supported him in health and in sickness.

We will miss him dearly. May his soul rest in peace and our memories comfort us.

Dr. Nowa Omoigui will be laid to rest in Columbia, SC on May 15, 2021.

On my behalf and the Orobator and Amadasun families, I offer condolences on Nowa’s transition. As my senior at UCH, Nowa was an epitome of brilliance and tireless curiosity. He had a way of making complex undertakings effortless and in so doing helped to regularly convey inspiration on the art of the possible. Nowa, you are cherished and you will be missed.

To Moira, the kids, young and grown, and the entire family, we pray for the Lord to continue to grant you His Grace, His Lovingkindness and the strength to bear this loss.

Rest In Peace Nowa.
Amen.

**In Memory of Nowamagbe Austin Omoigui*

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. Apart of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway, and heartache make a lane, we'd walk out way to heaven, and bring you back again. In life we love you dearly, in death we love you still, in our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill.

Your presence will miss
Your memories we treasure
Loving you always
Forgetting you never.

I had met Dr Nowa Omoigui at a Nigerian Independence Party, in 1995. A very Nice guy. Talked to me and told me all he knew about residency in the US then. Asked me to find time to see him in the office, which l did. He was then the chief of cardiology service at Providence Hospital, Columbia, SC. He was of one those that gave me a reference letter for my residency application. In actual fact, his reference letter, having come from a chief cardiologist, and my excellent USMLE scores, fetched me an out-of-match residency position at my second or third interview in NYC. A good man with a helping hand he was..l remain grateful to this respectful true Nigerian son.
May his gentle soul continue to rest with the good lord

I cannot believe Nowamagbe OMOIGUI has left us to the great beyond. I am frozen in time as I cannot believe it.
Nowa was different, head and shoulders above his peers, a human library, a repository of knowledge cutting across the sciences and the arts.
In the ‘controversy & Internet battles that followed the publication of the book ‘’ I remain Sir your Obedient Servant by Oba Erediauwa, Nowa was in the trenches with all of us churning out facts to humble our opponents, day or night Nowa will produce rebuttals to negative publications against Edo Nation before we are awake on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

I can still see his smiling face when we first met at an ENA convention in San Francisco in 2001 after finishing our internship in UBTH in June 1981. Precisely 20 years later.

Nowa’s handwriting was like print work. He was excellent in every aspect of human endeavours. His language and choice of words were pristine.
Edo People at home and in the Diaspora have truly lost a real gem, a good human being, a gentleman who was very proud of his Edo heritage and willing to remove and protect Edo Nation from any blemishes whatsoever.
Nowa was possibly a reincarnation of ancient Benin war general.

A few years ago when we started ASINMWIN EVBUOMWAN GROUP to help forestall the creation of an Ijaw State from Edo State, we were asking for Nowa, where is Nowa? Hilary Evbayiro, Osagie Odeh, Edo Aikhionbare Etc to contact Nowa now!!
We needed his knowledge, commitment to Edo course, his forthrightness but we were informed he was down and he did not fully recover until his passing.

May his gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord,
May his Family especially his wife, his children, his siblings and his numerous friends be consoled & have the courage to bear this great loss.
I am just ‘lost for words’ at Nowa’ passing. He will be dearly missed.
Adieu Nowamagbe Omoigui.

It is difficult to write to this, as I am still in disbelief at Nowa's passing.

I knew Nowa for more than 45 years. We were in secondary school, when we met. I remember him inviting me to his home to watch war movies, and meeting his wonderful family, looking forward to the delicious meals that his mother would cook. We have stayed close friends ever since.

He was always a true friend to me, and to many others. I learned from the outset that he was very outspoken, not afraid to speak truth but not in your face. We were roommates in Mellanby Hall at University of Ibadan. He used to encourage me when studying for exams. One of my favorite memories is of him telling me "you can always sleep after the exam!" Actually, there are so many memories of Nowa that bring a smile to my face, way too many to share here.

We stayed in close contact throughout the years, through medical school, residency, fellowship, practice, and as our families expanded would share those joys with each other. While at times, we may not have been in touch regularly, whenever we connected, we picked up again, without missing a beat.

It is particularly shocking that the last time I spoke with him, just a few weeks ago, he appeared at last to be recovering from his long illness. I am greatly saddened by his loss.

Nowa was a man of great character, drive, and ability. He would, and did anything for his friends. He was incredibly reliable. Some people are hard-working, and others are talented. He was both. He had a wonderful sense of humor, gentle charm, and even when young had wisdom far beyond his years.

It is said that a star that burns brightly does not burn for as long, and Nowa's star was truly incandescent. In his short life, he accomplished more than many could accomplished in two lifetimes. I know that I am just one of many who will miss him dearly. My deepest condolences to Moira and children, as well as Sota, Ifueko, Eghosa, and Nosa who I got to know through him so many years ago.

Rest In Peace, my true friend. You have run your race, passed all your exams - school and life - with flying colors, and can finally "sleep".

News of Nowa’s passing has left me in utter devastation.

I have known Nowa Omoigui from about 1979 when I started living next door to his parents. He was then a medical student in clinical rotations, so we did not see much. We were to link up again years later, after he had moved to the USA and I to Switzerland. Email was the main social media platform then and the traffic between us was rife. His writing on Nigerian military history had become increasingly prolific and it was a pleasure to serve as a link between him and many of my friends who shared his passion for “setting the record straight”. The feedback was almost universally positive; they always marveled at this terrific guy with so much energy and passion.

My interactions with Nowa escalated after I moved to ‘nearby’ Canada, aided by increased social media tools. But I also travelled down several times to visit him in Columbia, SC, and he returned the visit to me in Canada multiple times, and on one of those visits coming with 3 generations of his family. It was one memorable trip and we started with a blast at Niagara falls. Remarkably on most of the visits, he would give me new books to read – always with a Nigerian dimension.

Work meant I shared my time between Canada, Europe and Nigeria. Quite often I would send a text from Lagos about 3 am Columbia SC time and get a reply instantly. I remember two quotes from him during those interactions : “I don’t sleep.” And “I don’t forget anything, I am an elephant.”

Nowa had everything – charisma, wit, confidence, an overwhelming intellect, and a great love for humanity. And he was incredibly generous with his time and resources. All you had to do was mention the matter, even in passing, voila ! With Nowa there was no flash. What you saw was what you got.

It has been an immense blessing to me to have known Nowamagbe Omoigui.
Nowa, rest in peace in the bosom of our Almighty God.

Am short of words,it is still like a dream, find it too difficult to believe you are gone so soon.
You were a role model to your generation and those to come
An inspiration to all those whose paths you crossed.
We love you but God loves you more
Continue to rest in the bosom of the lord, till we meet to part no more.
May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure that you hold close to your heart.
My beloved cousin, even though you stayed but for a moment, your life has left footprints in my heart that cannot be washed away. The pain of your death hurts so deep however I know that when those we love so dearly are taken, the only way they can live on is to never stop loving them because when i look up at the stars i can be glad knowing that those are little openings where your love continually pours out.
Your memory will continue to live on and will be woven deeply in my heart forever.
Love always - Mrs Pamela Osamagie

Dear Nowa is at peace. But for those left behind he lives in each and everyone's heart and mind forever. I still remember his great smile, his eyes, how he used to pull ifueko's leg, how much he made all his brothers stronger as their senior brother and an act to follow. And boy did you all follow and break some serious ceilings. The joy he brought the family and the tough times you shared. His love of history especially the Biafran and Military History. The birth of each of his loving children and the wonderful times being a son, brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, dad and husband. The phenomenal high standard he set as a medical student and continued to being one of the best cardiologist in the world. The sheer joy he brought to all who knew him. His gentle studious nature when we were much younger back in the days we lived in surulere and his humility..
Nowa did so much throughout his life. Now sadly he is no longer with us. But he leaves a great legacy. Rest in peace dear Nowa.

Dear Nowa, I woke up to read of your translation into eternity for I know you did not die. I know you live in the hearts of many. To live in the hearts of those who love us is not to die.

I knew you as a man of great distinction. My dear friend and military historian, handsome black boy as I used to refer to you. You were well spoken of as one with a calm and friendly disposition.

Admirable Nowa! You were well positioned in life from your birth till when you joined the Saints triumphants. No wonder you always looked up and not down. Male models are few, you were one of them. Your upward gaze combined with the black of your eye balls, and your ever twinkling eyes reminded me that you came to the world with a vision which you will fulfil. I had no doubt that you are not one of those who will pass through the universe unnoticed, unfulfilled and unsung.

You were indeed very humble very unassuming,
Very friendly to those you wish to be friendly with. You were a Highly distinctive personality and top of the range in the gaussian curve of human distribution. Highly intelligent. You made great impact on the world of those who you met; those who heard and read you. Although I silently wept when the news got to me early this morning my joy was that you lived and passed through my generation. God will take care of those you left behind including my humble self. Rest In Peace till we meet and part no more.

Tribute from King's College Old Boys Association Class Set 1970-74/76

Nowamagbe that I know-
He came to join us from Federal Government College Warri in the 6th form. He sat directly behind me in our Lower Sixth Form (B) Lecture Theatre Classroom full of smiles all the time and the easy go guy in his sparkling King's College (KC) white uniform adorned with his Blazer.
He mixed very well with every member of the class and with him, was never a dull moment.
He was very versatile in every aspect of life. For Nowa, there was never any topic of discussion that he would not have anything to contribute.
In academics, he proved to those of us who had been in KC in our earlier years that he didn't understand why he was not part of us from form 1 in KC all along but will always make reference to the fact that his jnr brother Sota some few years behind that had started from form 1 will make up for this. Nowa was a very brilliant student in the class and very likeable too.
It was not a surprise too that he distinguished himself not just as a true King's College boy but as an icon in his chosen medical career.
We as Christians definitely know that we must not be ignorant concerning them which are asleep and we should not sorrow even as others which have no hope, we will certainly meet our fellow Kingsman Nowa and be united with him on the resurrection morning where we will part no more.

What a good person. Met him for the first time in Houston during our UMAGBAE (BENINS WORLDWIDE) FIRST CONVENTION. He helped with the election where I became the VP. Later on we were on several committees, he was the committee Chairperson. Dr. Nowa never shy away volunteering his time when it comes to issues affecting our state and people. He will be missed. Rest in Eternal Peace the humble and Honorable Dr. Nowa Omoigui. I pray for God to give the family & those you left behind the Strength to bear this great loss.

Brother Nowa, we are all hearts broken on the news of your home going. I and my family are going to cherish the weekend you spent with us when you and I attended the wedding of Dr. Olomu's son in Lansing, Michigan. We discussed to the late hours till we were weary and went to sleep. It did not occur to me that was the last time we were to see. You were a true Edo national and we will always appreciate you.

Farewell and sleep in the Lord Almighty God till we all meet again.

Nowa was a loyal friend and an exemplary family man whose love for humanity was always palpable if you are lucky to be in his presence.
As a professional he distinguished himself as an accomplished cardiologist rising to the pinnacle of his career.
Nowa’s real love was history & story telling making him one the most respected military historian in Nigeria.
I remember with nostalgia his numerous articles on contemporary issues in our country of which I was a beneficiary.
I will miss those interactions. I know Nowa is resting in bosom of the lord.
I pray the good lord gives the family & those of us who loved him dearly the fortitude to bear the enormous loss.

A man of such erudition
Coupled with inimitable elocution
Truly the exception
Often defied comprehension
Having always been in search of perfection!

In times of toil and in leisure
It was still the ultimate pleasure
To have known one of such measure
Without doubt,a national treasure!

So, it is fitting to carry on
Your earthly race,so well run
Your battle,so clearly won
You will arrive at early morn
Victorious,with the rising sun.

Fare thee well, Nowamagbe.

Floreat.

I am sending this tribute in memory of Dr Nowa Omoigui, a distinguished physician and historian. I have never met Nowa in his lifetime, but have read many of his writings over the years. His family name also attracted my curiosity and along the line, I got to know that he was the son of the highly respected Pa Daniel Aiyanyor Omoigui, a former Surveyor General of Nigeria, and also a nephew to my classmate and equally distinguished physician, Dr Osaretin Omoigui. As a regular contributor on public affairs issues in Nigeria, I used to enjoy reading his highly researched contributions, which seemed to have disappeared from the public space in recent times.Nowa has lived a most eventful and accomplished life, and he will be surely missed by all those who knew him.We commiserate with his immediate and larger family, colleagues and friends on this great loss. May his soul rest in the bosom of the Lord, amen.

Big brother Nowa. You will be forever missed in my heart. I grew up with you leading the way, an example of a gentleman to emulate. Followed you from Lagos to Benin and on to the United States. I recall our family visits with you, Moira and the kids in South Carolina and when you all visited us in Virginia. I would have loved more visits to see your smile and learn from you as I did in times past. God knows best and I know you are in a better place paving the way for your followers like me. Rest In Peace!

EULOGY TO A KING
Life asked death, "WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE ME BUT HATE YOU??" And with a straight
face, death responded, "BECAUSE - YOU'RE A BEAUTIFUL LIE AND I'M A PAINFUL TRUTH!!"
But just because one dies, doesn't mean it's the end, seeing as how energy doesn't dissipate, but
instead, it transfers. While we're alive, our spirit animates our skin that we're wrapped in, and
when that skin drops down, our spirit goes on to the next phase. In other words, we're not human
beings... on a spiritual journey, we're spiritual beings on a human journey. To be absent from the
body is to be present with the Lord.
A death is not the extinguishing of a light, but the putting out of the lamp because the dawn has
come. If I could reach up and hold a star for every good of a person you are, the entire evening
sky would be in the palm of my hand. Sometimes love is for a moment, sometimes love is for a
lifetime. And sometimes a moment...IS...a lifetime.
I asked God why he took you, and he told me, because you were too handsome for earth. But
death isn't the last sleep, it's the final awakening. Death leaves a heartache, no one can heal, but
love leaves memories no one can steel. Someday we'll spend eternity together.

Nowa's Biography

May 2, 2021

Dr. Nowamagbe Austin Omoigui (March 28, 1959 – April 18, 2021) was a pre-eminent interventional cardiologist in Columbia, South Carolina, and foremost Nigerian-American civil-military historian.

Born in the United Kingdom and raised in Nigeria, Dr.

On behalf of the Omoigui family, we are heartbroken to announce that our son, husband, father, uncle, brother, in-law, friend and muse to many, Dr. Nowamagbe Austin Omoigui, MD, FACC, pre-eminent interventional cardiologist in Columbia, South Carolina and foremost Nigerian civil-military and Benin historian, shed his earthly bonds and was called to the Lord on April 18, 2021.

Blessed to have known and worked with him

May 27, 2022
Dr. Omoigui was my chief resident when I trained at Cook County Hospital. I regret not contacting him after we completed our training. I think of him when I encounter someone from or hear a story of Nigeria and sadly, came across his memorial .

Nowa's enormous breath of knowledge, ability to lead with humor, dedication, kindness, and deep concern for his patients, always served as an example to me of what a physician was meant to me.  He was able to see the larger picture and analyze complex situations to determine how to best help patients when resources were limited; he was always respectful of those he supervised,   tried to teach us some of his skills and was always generous with his knowledge and time. He would have tea in the evening with myself and other residents in the cafeteria, providing an uplifting break, always making us laugh, before we returned to a long night of calls and patient rounds though-out the hospital.

I am grateful to have known him, may he rest in peace and his family receive some comfort from the memories and experiences they will always retain.

Rest in peace Nowa,

Dr. Cocchiarella

THE TRAILBLAZER.

By Abraham Ariyo, M.D.

Nowa Omoigui shattered the glass ceiling in Cardiology by being the first Nigerian immigrant to serve as Chief of Cardiology of a major University Medical School in the United States – The University of South Carolina, Columbia. His achievements ushered in a new era of possibilities. He inspired new generations of young Africans and African Americans in Cardiology worldwide. He chartered a new course, allowing us to redefine our future. By his example, we know that there are no limits in pursuing our dreams in the field of Cardiology. We celebrate his life this week.

Nowamagbe Omoigui was born on March 28, 1959 and passed on April 18th, 2021. He was a precocious talent who set records everywhere he went. Importantly, he set a new record when he became the first Nigerian (African) immigrant to be Chief of Cardiology at a US University Medical School in December 1994 at the age of 35. Perhaps the youngest to do so.

At the 1995 American College of Cardiology Conference, while I was presenting as a young Cardiology Fellow from Boston and my compatriot, Dr. Akinboboye was presenting as a young Instructor from Columbia University, we were both delighted to see Nowa on the podium as a Guest Faculty of the American College of Cardiology. It definitely opened our horizons. If Nowa could be up there, we too could. This trend has continued till today with young immigrants and young African Americans in leadership positions in every aspect of Cardiology in the United States.

In 1996, when I visited him at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, he was the Chief of Cardiology, the Program Director of Cardiology Fellowship, Director at the VAMC, and the Chairman of the Governing Board of Regents. The night of my visit, during the war of the Desert Storm, Nowa logged into the high-level, War-Room that was full of Military Generals, discussing Tactics and Strategies of military warfare. On Saturdays, he would email me his weekly political write-up for me to proofread, which I would send back to him on Sundays. That opinion would be published in his weekly column in the popular Nigerian newspaper, The Guardian.

Before the advent of internet, Nowa would give you facts and figures about events. By the time you checked, he would be correct about the date, time, place and everything else. His brain was like a walking encyclopedia. He was a preeminent cardiologist, an academic researcher, a prolific writer, a masterful orator, a Military and Nigerian historian, and a genius. Despite his record-setting achievements and his intellectual prowess, he was always humble, easily approachable, always ready to help the younger physicians. When he got comfortable with you, he would crack jokes upon jokes, and you would think he was a comedian. I miss his laugh.

While on this earth, Nowa ensured that his name was engraved in record books for the ages, we pray that God engraves his name among His greatest servants and grant him glory and eternal life in Heaven.

Nowa, we celebrate you today. Rest in Peace.

Tribute to my brother Dr Nowa Omoigui

May 10, 2021
My dear brother, you are gone too soon. Like a supernova, you lit up the galaxy for one brief shining moment, and then exited in a blaze of glory.

As the next sibling to you, separated by just fifteen months, you led the way for me. I was part of your journey as we grew up together. From inauspicious beginnings, your talents and gifts were revealed every passing year as you progressed through our nursery school, Corona Cretch, Ikoyi, primary school of St Saviour’s, Ikoyi and then St Mary’s School, Lagos and then your secondary school, Federal Government College, Warri as I went to Kings, College Lagos. You came to join me in Kings College for your lower six and then got admission to the University of Ibadan. I later came to join you there and then years later followed you to Cook County Hospital, Chicago, where our paths diverged from there.

Your encyclopedic memory was the foundation of your accomplishments in Medicine, Interventional Cardiology, Political and Military History and Strategy, including Nigerian, African and European history. Your genius is the stuff of legends and will be heralded to the end of time.

Nowa, people like you come once in a million years. I am glad that we shared the earth for most of your journey here. Earth’s loss is indeed heaven’s gain.

As we mourn your loss here on earth, I am comforted by the fact that you are receiving a hero’s welcome by our late mother Grace Onaiwu Omoigui, our aunts Iye-Ogbe and Iye-Nohuwa, our uncles Egbon and Tommy Asemota, our grandfather, Pa Aiyanyo Omoigui and Pa Elekhuoba Asemota, our grandmothers, Sarah Aiyowieren Omoigui and Izevbokun Asemota, and our great grandmother Iyeye Ogbewe Asemota on the other side. Your good friends in the Nigerian Army who passed before you including Lt. Col Mike Iyorshe, Major Alaiyemola, General Azazi among many others are welcoming and prayerfully worshipping with you at the throne of God.

Nowa, you now belong to the ages. You were a good and generous man to your friends, family and strangers. You were your brother’s keeper. Go forth to your heavenly father and exchange your cross for a crown.
