Cousin as I fondly called you, I just heard about your passing today from a friend and its still a shock to me I went on your whatsapp to check, You weren't just a cousin to me but also a great mentor, I remember my days in Zamafara how I always cried to you every time and many more events which you took part in my life, Your words of encouragement still follows me around till this day . God knows best , he knows why he took you away from us but I believe you are resting peacefully with the Lord. You will be surely missed

I am still in shock over the news of your passing, because I have always known you to be healthy as an Ox, never the less I do not intend to stand questioning God for he alone knows how the whole world works but I want to use this medium to thank you for coming our way during your journey which was eventful and filled with laughter and Grace, I know you were not only a Father to your biological children but to also children of friends. May your candle continue blowing ...

Daddy,
As I write this tribute, I am in a great shock as I hope you are only sleeping. Our last discussion was Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the English Premier League and a week after you are gone. Your passing on is a great loss to this world, but I know you are in a better place. Your values of goodwill, integrity and discipline will continue to drive my person.
Thank You for investing heavily in our mind-set.
Sleep on Dad.
Son & Friend - Adeeko Oladipo Adekunle II

His Life

Biography

March 26, 2019

Oladipo Adekunle Adeeko (Engr.) fondly called Bros D was born in Kano on 18th June, 1955 into the family of Pa Rufus Adefowora Adeeko and Mama Esther Adetoun Adeeko of Ijebu Imushin (both of whom are late). He attended the Holy Trinity Primary School, Sabon Gari, Kano and the St Paul’s Secondary School Zaria. He had a short stint in Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos before gaining admission into the University of Ife. He studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering and graduated in 1981. He spent the one year mandatory NYSC programme at the Nigerian Air Force in Lagos.

He joined the services of TCN formerly known as (NEPA & PHCN) in 1982 and first resumed into the Abeokuta office. He worked in several branches and stations over time (in some stations- multiple times) including Gombe, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Osogbo, etc. He rose through the ranks to the position of General Manager from which he retired in 2015. He was an astute manager of resources (men, materials and machines). A well-loved employee, colleague and boss. He was registered with COREN (Council for Registered Engineers of Nigeria) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (2011). He participated actively in the various branches where he worked. He attended several trainings, seminars and workshops both nationally and internationally. In his quest for more knowledge, he registered for a degree in Law at the Open University in Abuja despite his age. He completed the programme successfully. He also showed interest in accounting studies and registered for the ICAN part time programme.

Dipo attended the Anglican Church in all his stations. In Osogbo, he was an active member of the English Congregation, All Saints Cathedral, Balogun Agoro, Osogbo. He served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Church – the highest ruling body. In 2015 he received the Cathedral award and in served as a member of the All Saints Day Award Committee from 2016 till his demise. He served meritoriously with a high sense of integrity. He loved God and sang choruses with all gust and joy.

He was a peoples’ man. He did not discriminate but mixed freely with high and low. He had no condescending attitude. He loved life and lived it to the full.

Bros D was a member of the Osogbo Sports Club and was serving as President of the club for a second tenure till he gave up the ghost. He was also a fan of football and supported Arsenal Football Club in the English Premier League.

Engr. Adeeko was dependable, conscientious and reliable - he was a brother/friend in deed. He was generous to a fault. The produce from his farm (eggs, fish, chicken, plantain flour, palm oil, etc) will be sorely missed by many. He was blunt, spoke frankly but always gave hope and a helping hand to those who called on him.

Dipo married his heart throb Oladepe Ashiru in 1986 and the marriage is blessed with children Oladapo, Oladipo, Oladolapo and Oladamola. Oladolapo preceded him in death after a long illness in 2005.
