I am still in shock, not sure when and if I will ever get over this - I still think about you everyday, our last conversation, your regular words of encouragement, your large heart...you were too kind to be real, you gave me and many others the wings to fly and the platform to shine. You will be forever missed. I pray God rests your soul in peace and keep the loved ones you left behind. Adieu boss

Oh death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is thy victory?

Baba Agba.. My heart is heavy, my eyes sore, and my spirit frail.. I have asked 'why?' continously with no answers.. Why now? Why you?

You were the mirror through which I looked at life, and now that you are no more, that mirror is shattered. I stay up most nights, calling your name, and hoping that when the day breaks, you would answer. But alas, you have gone silent on us..

For once, I felt defeated; an experience I have never had with you. You were a visionary leader, and always had a solution for every situation; you would always reassure us of victory. And now that we needed you the most to show that attribute of yours again, you went silent on us..

Hmmmmm.. How do we get over this rude shock? How do we get this weight of your absence off our chests? How do we maneuver the troubled waters ahead? Some of us have experienced what your absence does to the team, and I can only imagine the battle ahead, knowing that you are gone and never to return..

Although difficult to accept, we take solace in the fact that you have gone to rest in the bossom of God, and you're smiling down on us..

We are all broken, and we pray God heals us..

Baba Agba, we miss you dearly, and Olayinka misses you the most..

Rest on my boss, my brother, my friend..
Rest on Lord Rawa (Omo Jesus)..

The best boss and mentor ever!

I still can't believe I'm writing a tribute for you. You were just an exceptional leader and person. You were always jovial and related with everyone, regardless of position or status. You were also veryyy generous to a fault- you gave your time, your counsel, your funds... everything. You could always sense when someone was dealing with an issue (personal or work-related) and you always reached out to help in any way you could.

You believed in me far much more than I have ever believed in myself. Your faith in me and support pushed me to achieve, because I never wanted you to be disappointed in me. You did same for everyone in the team and around you. You were always optimistic and picked out the positives from everything. You cared for everyone and wanted us all to succeed in our careers and personal lives.

You had big plans, big dreams and you always worked hard and prayed hard to achieve them. I learnt a great deal about hard work, dedication, committment, strategy and innovation from you. Oh Oga Wole...You were just very special.

I know you are resting in God's bosom and smiling down at us from heaven right now. I pray God comforts us all, especially Yinka. All your dreams for her will be realized. And we will keep doing our absolute best to advance your legacy. Rest in peace my dearest boss, mentor, friend and leader.

A great person has left us. Oluwole was a person who knew how to appreciate every moment of life. I remember him for his optimism, and positive energy which radiates through all of us. Rest now, because you achieved your mission. Goodbye friend.

You not only had an infectious smile, but an extremely big heart, always willing to help, support and see the best in others - never looking down on anyone. A true leader.

Down to earth, and easy going.

Your words of wisdom and the advice you gave me still ring in my mind since our last business trip while at Etisalat. Nothing was big for you to overcome, you were positive pushing boundaries that made you the success you became.

We ask why, the good people among us that the world needs are leaving us...but God knows best!

Your legacy will always live on. May God give your loved ones left behind the strength during this period knowing the people you touched will be there to always support.

With a heavy heart.....Rest In Peace Wole.

Words can’t express how sad I feel when I remember you are no longer with us. Uncle Oluwole as I funnily call you. I have always enjoyed us sharing the same birthday date. I remember starting up my career as a young graduate, you always advised that I give my best in any role I'm given and to keep pushing myself to learn more. You will always make reference to your career journey as an example and advising me to do the same in my career. We all know you were a very intelligent business person and you always advised me to be intentional when it comes to business. I really felt the genuine care and concern you had for my mom and each of my siblings. To honour your memory we have no choice but to be the best version of ourselves. I know this will make you truly happy where you are. Rest in perfect peace, my big bro.

From your loving cousin

Gone too soon!

Wole, it is with deep sadness that I write this today. If any one had told me this would be I would have doubted .

You found a way to connect with everyone you met . I remember our last conversation and you telling me of how proud you were of certain things you had achieved .

You were not just a Marketing specialist , you spent time explaining to me how certain things in the HR world must be changed .

Wole I know you are resting with the angels now. In a place where there is no sadness nor sorrow nor pain. I thank God for the life you lived .
Rest on bro.

I’ve lost a leader, my best friend, my business partner, my counsel, my inspiration, my greatest cheerleader, my voice of reason. Always pushing for everyone to be better! I’m constantly fighting the war to ascertain if I’m in the real world or if it’s all a dream.

Where do I even begin? My ‘Mr Rawanson’ as I fondly annoyingly called you sometimes (a random play on ‘Lawanson’), you knew how special you were to me, because I made sure I told you often. You were the one fighting for me when I wasn’t in the room. I’ve never worked for someone who believed so much in my talents and abilities. You believed in me, against all belief. You gave me a reason to wake up each morning and come to work, or work from home. Kai! Life will never be the same oh. My investment advisor, my sounding board.

You told me 2 weeks ago that your utmost priority was making it to heaven and you said it often. I’m glad for that. ‘Emi omo Jesus!’, you said often.

You were kind and generous to a fault, forgiving of the worst offenses. Your life was a sermon. You always asked me, ‘Tayo, what is the second greatest commandment? Love your neighbor as yourself!’. You would then ask me why it was always so hard for people especially Christians to do this and that was always your guiding principle.

You loved your Salt Lagos cakes! If it’s not salt, it’s not cake! You were the glue; the one who mediated and brought people together. I enjoyed entrepreneurship with you; you always said ‘Tayo, we have a billion dollar business on our hands! We must keep pushing!’.

We would have been lifelong friends. There was nothing we couldn’t tell each other. We would always jokingly say ‘a ti mö rawa better’. You told me our blood had mixed and that you were officially my big brother and there was nothing I could ever hide from you. It was true.

You changed my life Wole. You always pushed me to be better. You made me believe nothing was out of my reach in life. The significant milestones I’ve achieved in life were all because of your encouragement and support. You took a huge risk and gave me a chance to become a general on your team; glad I made you proud and never disappointed you. I’ll try to keep doing that; so help me God.

You made my family and I’s Christmas in 2020; you know what you did. You were just a rare soul. One in a million oh! Mr Rawa. I don’t understand this, but I know God understands it and I rest in the fact that He does.

There’s really nothing I can type that can quantify how amazing you were or the friendship we shared. I kept telling you that God made me wait in MTN for 7 years till you came along so that our paths could cross. I’m thankful God did that. I’m thankful for the gift of you, thankful for the privilege to have done life with you, thankful for everything you taught me. I’m thankful for all the laughter we shared, you taught me to chill!

You were too good for the earth. Now, you’re right we’re you belong; in the bosom of our Father and our Lord Jesus, resting from all of life’s stress. We will surely meet again.

Love you Wole

Oluwole Rawa, Eyan mi!
Ever supportive, jovial and kind. I can’t believe you are gone!
Wole constantly aspired to do better. In his career, education, his business.... he was always thinking about the next level, strategising about the next move; working out new ways to grow and improve. Wole was an inspiration to so many.
He wanted the very best things in life for his daughter. He had so much planned!
You are definitely gone too soon Oluwole. You will be sorely missed. Sun re o padi mi.

A rare gem; that is what you were boss. You loved and cared for us deeply and genuinely, regardless of the rank. You lived such an impactful life. There was a special touch to everything you did, it was always exquisite. We celebrate the life you lived, even if we wish you’d stayed longer.

Oga Wole, forever in our hearts.

Sighs.... This one hurts so deep, it hurts sooo much. Wole, I still remember how you patiently waited for me to join the meeting on that fateful day because i was to lead the regular prayers before commencement of the meeting.

“Folarin, any wins?” Is what you’d always say in our monday morning meetings. Wole celebrated even the littlest milestones, be it business or personal because he knew what it meant to do anything that moves the needle. Wole was an all round person, he loved God, he GENUINELY cared about people, he believed in people’s potentials, he partied hard when the time came.

Oluwole Rawa was a consummate professional, he embodied excellence, a genius, a visionary, always ten steps ahead. I always marveled at his understanding of things, it seemed like he was some sort of divine human, and maybe, just maybe you were divine because your energy was so contagious that everyone around you felt it. Your demise has had me asking so many questions Wole, sooooo many questions because this doesn’t make any sense to me. I feel very privileged to have worked with you because you emptied yourself, you gave your all to the business, to your family and your team. Thank you for sharing yourself with us Wole, we will live with your memory engraved in our hearts forever.

Rest assured Wole, that you’ve left an indelible mark on us and the world. I’m still finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that you’re gone, and I can’t believe I’m speaking of you in the past tense. But I’ll take solace in the fact that you’re smiling down at us from heaven, so we will surely meet again at the feet of Christ.

You will be sorely missed Oluwole Rawa. Rest In Peace my Boss, Colleague and more importantly, MY FRIEND. You will never be forgotten. ❤️❤️

Sorrow fills our hearts this sad moment, a sorrow that is deep and personal. Oluwole Rawa has silently closed the door of life and departed from us. Our lives will be empty in the areas that he had brightened for us. I was rather shocked to hear the news of your untimely demise.

Albert Einstein said, “The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.” In one word, Oluwole Rawa was a man who gave. He gave much to his work, to the Marketing Segment team and colleagues while at Etisalat - he cared for his team, he laid an example that the directorates followed. That is why ladies and gentlemen as we are gathered here to say goodbye to him, I would like to speak in celebration of his life. Here was a life that demand notice….a life that exemplified brilliance…a life that inspired emulation…a life that burned so that others’ paths were lit.

He would always tell my boss back then "Bad boy ni bobo yen, we know where we meet". We had some profound memories outside of work, though I worked with another marketing directorate, he never used that to address me differently.

When he left Etisalat, it was always a delight whenever I ran into him.
Omo Jesus as calls himself, Lord Rawa, sleep well. It was never a dull moment with you.

May almighty God grant you eternal rest, Amen!
May almighty God give strength to family members and friends to bear this loss, Amen!

February 26, 2021
Wole was a kind hearted boss, passionate person and an inspirational friend. As a boss even till death, he believed in his people and never saw the success and growth of his people as a threat. He was a selfless teacher. Achievement of business objectives, development and successes of his team members both in career and otherwise were his greatest goals and this he did so well by constantly sharing his personal experiences across all spheres. With Wole, I understood what leadership should be.

I remember when I was hospitalized in 2018, he would call me up every day to check up on my recovery and the highlight for me was when he drove down to the hospital on the Mainland to check up on me not minding the distance from his location and inconvenience on that faithful Saturday morning that he should have been resting after a hectic work week.
I can only wish this write up was a “Get Well Soon” message but it’s not…..

How do we deliver 2021’s “Unprecedented performance” without you AHHHGGHHH…your regular vocabulary……"EMI Omo Jesus". This is so hard…. Wole, you’ll be SORELY Missed.

Thank you for sharing your kind self with us. Thank you for teaching us to number our days through your life of impact.. We bless God for your life and may your sweet soul Rest in Peace.

Wole was such an inspiration! He displayed excellence and hunger for more in all of the career opportunities he had and it was not a surprise seeing all of the achievements he recorded in the short time he lived. I really do not know where to start from or how to coordinate these words. I really do not understand how a young, vibrant, knowledgeable and good hearted person will just pass away like that even at his prime. Wole, there are so many questions to be asked but it really will lead to nothing but that God knows best. I'm honoured to have known you, to have shared some good moments with you and to have supported the same football team with you. Rest on till we meet to part no more by God's grace

Wole, I remember calling you out of the blues in 2014 for your assistance, prior to this time, we didn’t have a relationship. You didn’t only believe in my story, you also went all out for me, supporting me and checking up on my progress regularly all through the journey.

You have made a great impact in this world, and you will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace Baba!

Oga Wole, i prayed so hard for God to return you to us! I still wished that breaking news of your demise never came at all. I expected it to remain a rumor till a senior colleague announced it finally. So so painful that good people exit this world early.

I just want to say thank you! Thank you for being a great support to all while with us. Thank you for all the encouragement and support you gave me in my y'ello journey and during my wedding. You will be greatly missed no doubt. Rest well.

It saddens my heart and just can't stop reading and looking how God has helped you before this end. The consolation I have is the good things people speak about you and I pray God rest your beautiful soul. Adieu Wole Rawa

Sir Wolex as we fondly called you back in Etisalat Mulliner towers, it was a huge shock when i heard that you passed on to the great beyond. You were admired by all because of your larger than life approach, the genuine interest and care in making sure that people progressed in all spheres of life, be it career, family and personal ambitions. I cant forget the football discussions/rivalry first thing on monday morning with Debo, Edwin and Tope about each individuals love for Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and the likes(those were fun days) . You showed love and became very friendly to all around you, sometimes i wonder why the good die young? May God almighty accept your soul in heaven, grant you eternal rest, and grant your family & loved ones the grace to bear this unimaginable and painful loss.Amen. You definitely put a smile on the faces of many and would always be remembered for good. Rest in perfect peace. Amen

Wole, you were an amazing person that lived a remarkable life. You were a leader, by the true definition of that. It’s difficult to understand why you had to leave at the prime of your life. Some things are just inexplicable. You often shared knowledge, and inspired us to do, and be the best. My consolation is that you are with our Father, in heaven, and that your legacies will live on.
I pray that your wishes for your adorable daughter be established, in Jesus name, and that God grants all loved ones you have left behind the fortitude to bear your departure. You will be fondly remembered. Rest In Perfect Peace, Boss.

Lord Rawa! Mr Rawa!

Humble! Honest! Caring and Kind...one of the largest hearts I’ve met. He only needed to know and he’d swing in. Nothing was too much to give...Always had soothing and encouraging words.

I’d scream your name from any side of the hall and expect a smile or a wave. You’d always humor me.

On the money... street smart, open arms, open doors...teaching and showing the way, listening to everyone and taking any feedback without grudges. Constantly striving for ‘better’. ‘Ba mi soro joor...’ always ready to listen, always ready to share.

A great leader. A strong support. Everyone’s success mattered and he’d encourage even the smallest wins. Took nothing for granted.

An eye for detail with huge ambitions and huge plans for MTN. We would sweat hard and play hard. An undeniable patriot...hopeful and trusting even for Nigeria.

Wole had a knack for excellence with everything and wouldn’t condone mediocrity! ‘Guys please, please...’Bring your A-game o!’ He’d joke...and then we’d celebrate the wins.

Grateful for everything. Generous with everything...Thank you for all and all Mr Rawa. We’ve lost a dear and loyal one. An epitome of a great leader. This is hard to chew but we live with good memories and remain thankful. That heart is with our maker. Rest in power my brother!

Oluwole Olanrewaju Rawa!!!! I used to refer to you as a living legend. You were truly one and it’s so sad that the only living legend I know have gone to join the other legends we read about or heard about.
I met you for the first time at the interview table in September 2010 & boom there was a connection for 2 days after the interview, you invited me over to your house to properly meet me. It was another round of interview, but not the formal one, but this was to know me and sign me up as a friend. 7 months after I had become your lieutenant with my 1st promotion to act in your position as Head of Mass Market while you were promoted to Act as Director in Etisalat. Who hands over such a huge task to someone who had just worked with you for 5 months? It’s only a living legend. I later knew that the decision came in the midst of a lot pressure with many people telling you to hand over to this person or that person, but you stood up to your believe of merit. You trusted in my abilities without any form of politics for you rewarded only merit. Yours was a heart of gold which spoke true to your believe come rain, come sunshine. Too many things and activities we did together, don’t even know where and how to start. I can recall when your acting position was made permanent in November 2011, you immediately started pushing for how to make my acting role a permanent one. I can recall your statements then that they wouldn’t have promoted you if not for the performance and you wouldn’t have achieved it without the support of your team. Ofcourse there were hurdles that you faced and at a point I told you to stop pushing for this as I feared for you, but you pushed through with all strength. In your 4 years as Director in Etisalat. you promoted every member of the team. A team of 20+. Who does that but only a living legend. You had a one on one relationship with every member of the the team and the same you did in MTN. These relationships were sustained after you left or any of us left to work in other places for you were like a spider with thousands of webs that held tight to each point it was attached to. Is it Tunde’s family? Our friend and colleague who departed this world in January 2016. You still mentioned the fact that you are still in touch with the family that the kid who was still in her mother’s womb when the dad passed is 5 years old now and the fact you check on them regularly. You mentioned Tolu our colleague who passed in MTN last year too in the conversation and how check on the wife and kids regularly. Who does that if not a living legend. You were true to your believe to the last minute for we had 3 meetings on that faithful Monday and 3 phone calls. Your last call to me was to find out whether I had information on how someone who who left your team years ago faired in appraisal. I later learned you called 2 other people seeking for the same information. That shows how much you loved and cared for all you came across. Where else will a living legend such as you be if not at the bosom of the one who loves you more than we all can even do. Your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I can imagine the huge number of people that will welcome such a big epitome of love to heaven. You are definitely balling over there Adieu my boss, friend, confidant, brother and mentor. Kai, this is just so sad.

Lord Rawa’ was one of the coolest Directors we had in Etisalat back then, whether you were in his department or not, whenever He wanted to celebrate a personal or career win, he would make sure the entire building felt his joy & partook in his celebration whether you were part of his team or not. You were entitled to partake in the flex as much as you liked.

The guy was just too cool men. Sad to hear of this.

Rest Easy Boss.

Still can’t believe this is real,
Someone wake me up from this horrible nightmare,
My heart aches as I write this
Where do I start from?..... A true friend indeed!
Always rooting for me! Pushing me to win!
I remember all the things you did when my mum had the fire accident, too many wonderful memories, you were an ANGEL on earth!
Sleep well till we meet again omo Jesus
