Oscar Hicks, 87, a longtime resident of Creedmoor passed away Tuesday, February 04, 2014 at Peaks Resource of Treyburn.

A native of Person County, the son of the late Bunnie and Eva Hicks.  He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a retired barber.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 7th at Fellowship Baptist Church.  Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Betty Arnold Hicks of the home, two daughters; Vicky Hicks Cates of Butner, Susan Hicks Miller of Anderson, S.C., one son, Steve Oscar Hicks of Creedmoor, five grandchildren; William Crews III, Christopher Gilliam, Stephen Hicks, Lauren Rigsbee and Katie Miller, four great-grandchildren; Ayden Rigsbee, Peyton Hicks, Emily Crews and Landon Rigsbee.

Flowers are accepted or memorials can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 6th, 2014 at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times the home of Vicky Cates.

I'm so deeply sorry at this very kind and sweet man's passing. In many ways Oscar reminded me so much of my own daddy and that is one of the reasons I felt so close to him. I know you will all miss him so much and we as his friends will also. My deepest sympathies to all of you and know many prayers of comfort are being offered for you.
