His Life

For every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted”Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

A TIME TO BE BORN: I was born to the late Lewis & Willie Bell Higgins of West Point, GA on June 11, 1946.  There I spent many happy moments with my 13 siblings.

A TIME TO LOVE: I loved people and cared about their well-being.  I married Mary Ann Higgins, and together we shared the love of our sons & daughters.

A TIME TO PLANT: I planted seeds of the fruit of the spirit of love, joy, peace & happiness into the lives of those I met. This harvest shall forever live on in the lives and hearts of my children and grandchildren.

A TIME TO SEEK: I joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. C.L. Daughtery. I served in several ministries in the Church including President of the Pastor Aid and Male Sunday School Teacher.

A TIME FOR PEACE: I tried to be a peaceful man of God.  I always tried to be helpful and greet everyone with a smile and kind words.  My concern for others came before my own needs.

I hope along the way I was able to help someone.  I was an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary life.  May the life & legacy of love that I gave live on in the lives of those I touched.  I have passed the torch onto my children.  I pray they keep it going until we are all together again with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ.

I NOW BID YOU FAREWELL….”

A TIME TO DIE: Those who will most profoundly be deprived of the warmth of my charming personality and the strength of my character includes my wife, Mary Ann; my children, Detrick (Talicia) Higgins, West Point, GA, Tomecka (Jonathan) Woody, Lanett, AL, Thomas Higgins, Atlanta, GA, Angie Higgins, West Point, GA,  Temeka Ray, Atlanta, GA, Marketta Monagan, Roanoke, AL, Belicia and Crystal Anderson, Atlanta, GA, Wendy (Glenn) Miller, Arlington, TX, and Saundra Talley Conyers, GA; five sisters, Willie Ruth Higgins, Doris Higgins, Atlanta, GA, Katie Thomas, Buffalo, NY, Mary Alice Brewer, LaGrange, GA, and Ruby (Clarence) Jones, Lithonia, GA; three brothers, George Thomas Higgins, Horace (Iris) Higgins, and Tony Higgins, Atlanta, GA; aunt, Mae Higgins; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Higgins, Minnie (Greg) Walker, Gail Ray; brother-in-law, Willie Ray, 13 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
