I always admired Paul and enjoyed his company; he was a very special person. Though somewhat reserved, he was clearly a superb lawyer, intellectually curious, and involved with a wide range of interests. I was sorry not to see him-and Judy-at our 65th law school reunion in October. Paul will be greatly missed.

Paul and Judy were haircutting clients of mine for many years. What a beautiful marriage I had the privilege to observe up close!
I have many poignant memories of Paul...especially his love of crosswords (doing while waiting for Judy to get her hair cut), talking about the Bettencourts (he knew I worked for L'Oreal), discussing their move from Manhattan to Connecticut, sharing dinners with them at their NY club or at the Knickerbocker restaurant in the Village and thoughtful Christmas presents from museums and always something from their trips to Paris.
I thought of Paul and Judy often during the years after I retired from hairdressing and was grateful we were still in touch. I will miss him.

We used to assist him with computer issues. A gentle and patient person. It was an honor to help him.

Paul's support for the music program at the First Church of Christ, Woodbridge, has been and will continue to be a tribute to his love of music. He will be thought of often for his generosity and support of the music program.

Paul was born in South Paris, Maine and spent his early days in Norway, Maine before moving to Laconia, New Hampshire, where his father owned a general store. The family consisted of his father Howard Otis DeCoster and mother Rama (nee Judd) and sister Carol (later Innes). He excelled academically, particularly in debate, and participated in sports before receiving a full scholarship to attend Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
