With a heavy heart, I write this tribute. Mum, you were a Mother in Israel. Ochili Ozuaa of Umuowele kindred. You and Daddy sacrificed all to make sure that Timothy Ewelukwa family and other extended family members were educated. My beloved husband, Dr Arinze Ewelukwa is a beneficiary. My husband told me that at a time, 13 relations of your husband were under your roof. You personally told me that you had to sacrificed your salary for the their upkeep. What a Mother !! You were an epitome of motherhood.
When I can into Ewelukwa family, you took me as a daughter. Honestly, I learnt a lot from you. You always told me that God brought me into this family to continue from where you stopped. I thank the Almighty God that He gave me the grace to do that.

"Nwunye Prof" was truly a woman of virtue, a loving mother and friend to many. She was hospitable, diligent and peaceful, being a wonderful wife to late Prof DIO Ewelukwa and raising their children in the way of the Lord, to become the wonderful and accomplished people they are today. After our parents' passing, she and her late husband showed us great love and support. We will truly miss her smiles, warmth and kindness.

Mama, I am eternally grateful for the gift of having you as my mother and though I will forever miss you, I take solace in knowing that you are no longer in pain and are now resting in the bosom of our heavenly father. Mama, you were my first teacher, companion, advisor, mentor and I had you all to myself for the first six years of my life before you blessed me with my siblings. During those innocent days at St. Barths in Enugu, I was never far from your side. You took me everywhere, nurtured and protected me fiercely. You taught me the life lessons which I have relied on for over 60 years, which is to love God and family, to be honest, to work hard and to help others less fortunate than myself.
Mama, thank you for taking me to visit both my grandmothers whenever we traveled to Oraukwu and for introducing me to all my relatives and letting me know that I have so many family members who loved me. Mama, your impact on my life is immeasurable. Your decision to allow me to go to America at the age of 11 years old changed my life forever. I can still remember the pain in your eyes and the tears that was flowing that day as I was departing from Enugu to go live in America with my Uncle Martin. Your sacrifices and love through the years is something that I will never forget. I will forever treasure the times that you stayed with me and my family in New Jersey, San Antonio, Georgia and London, England. You showered my family with love and we all simply adored you. I will forever remember all our time in the kitchen preparing so many of my favorite dishes and the wonderful recipes which you passed on to me.  I now share your recipes for chin- chin, moin- moin, abacha and so many more foods with my daughters and grandchildren.
Mama, I treasure all the times I laid in bed with you and had long, wonderful conversations about life. Nothing was left unsaid between us. We had a special bond that defied explanation and I sincerely thank you for all the many ways that you reassured me that although I did not spend my early years with you that I was never far from your mind. I will always treasure our conversations and everything that you shared with me regarding your early life. Your life story of love for God, endurance and perseverance in the face of adversity and kindness and generosity is something that I will never forget and pray that I have also passed these values to my daughters and grand-children.
Mama, I thank you for everything, for giving me life, for teaching me how to be a mother, for your sacrifices whenever I needed you. Thank you for being my friend and always giving me the best advice on so many topics. Mama, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith! I love you forever Mummy. Your legacy will live on and you will never be forgotten. I will miss you dearly but I rest in the assurance that we will meet again in heaven where we will dwell together, never to be separated again. May your soul rest in perfect peace for all eternity. Amen.

I already miss the moments when you would dance around in the kitchen, cooking and singing "Lift Jesus higher, lift Jesus higher!" Your smile and joyous spirit always filled our home with love and light. Grandma, I want to thank you for teaching me about the Lord. In my darkest moments, I can always remember you telling me that the Lord will never leave nor forsake me (Heb 13:5). You taught me to have faith in God and trust that He will guide me through any storm. You also taught me the Lord's Prayer and many worship songs, which I still sing to this day. I love you so much, grandma, and I'm grateful for the profound impact you had on my life. I know that right now, you are rejoicing and singing in heaven with the angels, making chin chin, and having daily chats with Jesus. I am thankful for all the wisdom you shared with me, and I will continue to apply those teachings to my life and the lives of my children. Grandma, I love you. May your beautiful soul rest in eternal heavenly peace.

You were one of the most beautiful souls I knew. Singing, praising, being so happy. You taught me to always make sure my heart was lead by God. You made sure I was always kind to people and love like Jesus loved. I remember being so happy in my creative space, cooking chin-chin and moin moin with you on mom’s counter. I remember you walking with me to elementary school singing songs and being a light of joy. This was the first time I ever saw you wearing jeans and I was so surprised to see how fit your legs were. I remember you chasing me around the house trying to spank me, but by time you caught me, we were hugging and laughing at eachother. I remember all the beautiful memories teaching me that life is about cherishing family. You blessed me with such a beautiful mother and I thank you for this. You lived an amazing life and you made it to the finish line. Now you are in paradise Our Father looking down at us smiling. I love you so much grandma.

Mrs. Rebecca Obiageli Ewelukwa,
It was a pleasure meeting you for the first time, over 30 years ago! Your smile was so welcoming and infectious! Because of you, I met a young woman, your daughter, Anuli Anyachebelu (nee Anochie) whose friendship I have cherished for over 48 years and counting! During the past 30 years you left an indelible mark on my life with your outlook of positivity, grace, and kindness. You lived a full and joyful life and you will be missed. You have also left a wonderful legacy that your family will carry on for generations. But you are in an even better place—in the arms of the Lord and His angels. Rest in Perfect Peace. My deepest condolences to the Family. I pray that the wonderful memories you shared throughout the years will bring you great comfort. Blessings,

My tribute to Mama

Mama was a kind-hearted woman, overflowing with love and care for those around her. Her gentle nature and profound wisdom touched the lives of many. Here is a tribute to my lovely aunty:

"To my dear aunty a shining star in our family, may your legacy forever bloom like the way you took me as an adopted son during my short stay in Enugu, never condoled laziness, thought me how to farm and read, your passing leaves a void in our lives, but your impact will continue to flourish. I will always cherish the memories of our time in the fields, where you patiently taught me the art of farming. Your guidance, wisdom, and love helped shape me into the person I am today. Your dedication, perseverance, and kindness inspired me to cultivate not just the soil, but also my own character. Though you may be gone, your spirit will continue to grow within me, and I will strive to make you proud by tending to the seeds of knowledge and love you so generously sowed. Rest in peace, dear Aunty. Your harvest was abundant, and your legacy will forever be treasured."

*CONDOLENCE MESSAGE*
The news of the transition of our dear mother Mrs. Rebecca Obiageli Ewelukwa (1935-2024), came to me as a shock, having been with her a few days before. She shared her kisses with me as usual. In all, we cannot ask questions in matters of this nature. Only be consoled by the impactful and godly life that she lived and the fact that she loved GOD, her children and her children showed her love and care.
My dearest "Big Mummy" as I fondly called you, and each time I did that, a sincerely acknowledging smile beamed and radiated from the inside of you. You were loving, prayerful, kind and beautiful. Your love and care were beyond comprehension. You called me "Ogo mu" (my inlaw) from a sincere heart. You took and loved my daughter Isioma as if she was the only biological daughter you had. She was your pride. One could hardly tell if she was your biological daughter or a daughter in-law. That was real you. To say that I will miss you is an understatement. The consolation I have is that you are resting peacefully in the Bosom of the LORD where there is no pain or care of this world. May your beautiful Soul Rest in Peace. Amen. Adie Big Mummy. Adie Ogo mu. Adie Beautiful One.

Mummy-mummy! Sweet Mama! Special-special! Mummy-special!

My irreplaceable, sweet, kind and gentle rare gem of a mother! My heart aches that you are no more with us but I am grateful for the time and love we shared.

I dont know if I did anything at all to deserve the unconditional love you showered on me, but I would forever be grateful that you did as that was the foundation of the love, peace and joy I enjoy in my home today. Before you even met me physically, from the moment you heard my name, you already started calling me "Isi m o!" (my Isi).

My first "shocker" in getting to know how amazing you are was when, coming to your house for the very first time, being nervous and wanting to do "eye service" as per "daughter-in-law-to-be", I got up to enter the kitchen to help and you insisted I go sit down and let Nnaemeka your son come to the kitchen to cook and serve me instead! Hmm! I couldn't believe it! Next morning, I woke up early to sweep and clean the house and you sent me right back to my room to go sleep! Wow! I had never seen or heard of a thing like that before from a "mother-in-law-to-be", particularly from the part of the world I come from! That was when I knew you were no ordinary woman.

On my wedding day, you danced and danced with me that people were confused as to who was my mum and who was Nnaemeka's mum!

Whenever I came to your house in Enugu with Nnaemeka, I was treated like a princess. It was your son, Nnaemeka I used to pity!lol! You would literally drag Nnaemeka's ears warning him to always pamper me, listen to me and treat me with utmost love and care and needless say he has kept that promise to you all these years. You never wanted to see me with a sad face for any reason. I remember once I came into your room and you thought I was not looking happy, you called Nnaemeka immediately and started telling him "Oya, kiss her! Kiss her now!"Haha! It was such a hilarious time! Lol!

You were a constant source of joy, love, strength and encouragement from the moment I became your daughter to the time you took your last breath. Your smiles, your warmth, your care would always be etched in my heart as a constant reminder that in all its chaos and drudgery, it still is a beautiful world.

After your death, you saw my tears and came to me in a dream few weeks later to console me and show me how happy you are in your glorious new body and new address. You looked so tall and beautiful as you glowed and sang a beautiful hymn, dancing with a beautiful smile on your face as you came towards me. I woke up that morning just beaming with smiles and the pain of your death in my heart was replaced with the joy of knowing you are in a much better place and I would see you again! Oh, what love!

Thank you, mummy, for defining unconditional love to me!

Thank you, mummy, for raising men and women that are not just great achievers impacting their world, but are also humble, kind and great examples of godliness and character in a crooked and perverse generation. Your children inspire me every day!

Thank you, mummy, for showing us what it really means to serve God in the way we live and the lives we touch.

I know heaven rejoiced when you stepped in and there were cheers and echoes of "well done!" ringing all over! Oh, what joy! You did well, Mama and we are all very proud of you!

Adieu sweet mama! Till we meet again!

Love always,
Your Isi

Tributes to grandma

Grandma, you will forever remain in our hearts, although you have gone to be with your creator. The memories you created will always leave with us.
I have been with you for 5years before your demise. The first time you saw me you gave me the name 'Amaka' saying I look like one of your daughters with the same name, and that was the name you called me all the while.
Even on sick-bed you fought a good fight, kept the faith and finished the course, l could remember one of the days you were hospitalized, unable to eat death came knocking but you resisted it always  singing the song that says "O naputawom n'ala apiti, O mewo kam nguzo n'elu oke nkume O tinyewo abu uto n'onum taa, Abu otuto hallelujah. Meaning God has delivered you from the miry clay and put a new song in your mouth. You came back to your house strong and hearty in few days.
Indeed you are a strong woman, God-fearing, kind-hearted and peace-loving.
I will forever miss your smiles, lovely christian songs you taught me and prayers on daily basis. Even the week before your demise, you were still strong and healthy with stable vital signs i never knew it would be so soon. But my courage and consolation lies on the fact that the crown of glory awaits you on the glorious morning.
Adieu beautiful grandma!
