I just learned of the shocking loss of LTC Pugh. He was my boss and my friend at Ft. Stewart and I will never forget him. He took pride in his work, but often talked about his children who were everything to him. I know he moved on to do greater things after Ft. Stewart and I'm sure touched many more lives. May you find peace and comfort in in your many memories of him.

It's been over a year now since I've last heard your voice or seen your smile. All the calls have stopped...cards of condolences have been stored away in a box...and no one calls to check on you anymore. But every second of the day I miss you! The hurt and pain has not gone away. Each day I'm forced to learn how to live without you in my life. It's crazy how this site was started over a year ago...but your children knew nothing about it! I'm sure there has been several honors or acknowledgements given to you that we know nothing about. I can tell from the comments who truly knew you and those who just wanted to post a comment for recognition. Daddy you will ALWAYS be honored and never forgotten in my book. I love you more than words can ever express! My hero...my role model...my #1 guy...I salute you!

Mrs. Turner-Pugh, I hope that you and your family said enough hellos to endure the last goodbye. I hope your heart will be comforted in knowing that "All is Well" with your lover, friend, husband, father, brother and your companion. I am trusting that you cry for a little while and some day, you will be able to smile again. My heart and tears goes out to you and the family. I want you take care of yourself just as you have taken care of our city. IJ

I wanted to express my sympathy to Evelyn and the family. I worked with Reginald for many years at the Urban League. He was always so supportive and helpful to me and all the volunteers at the Working Closet. He was always friendly and I appreciated his positive attitude in all matters. He will be missed in the community he served so faithfully.

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." My deepest sympathies go out to not only Soror Pugh, and family, but to the many people that LT. COL Pugh touched by his loving kindness and never ceasing giving and caring. I know this world would be so much better if we all had a calling to help people just as this man helped me. I have to believe that when COL Pugh looked into the face of Jesus, Jesus said, "Servant, job well done."

He Took Me Under His Wing

March 31, 2015

I remember it had to be about 1998 or 97, somewhere around that time frame.  I was a student at Ft. Valley State University.  I needed somewhere to complete my practicum and decided that I wanted to work with the military.  Well, I didn't have enough sense to know proper protocol, so I just decided I would go to COL Pugh's office and ask him if I could do my practicum there.  His secretary must have thought that I was crazy because she asked me did I have an appointment, I said, "no."  She said does he know you are coming?  I said, "no."  Does he know you?  I said, "no."  She shook her head and called him and said, "someone is here to see you."  I heard her say, "I don't know."  He came out and called me to the back.  Some people would not have done that, (time too valuable, they are too important, I don't know her or her parents.)  He didn't know me, I didn't have a name for myself and I didn't have parents with "clout"  who's name I could call.  It didn't matter to him.  He talked to me about my education, what I needed to do and if I EVER needed anything, let him know.  He didn't even know me.  I took him at his word.  When I needed ANYTHING, he was there to help.  Even if it were just making a phone call for me.  When he asked me to do something which usually meant leaving the office with a box of flyers or making calls to see if people needed a ride to the polls, I would do it.  He always had something he would sit me down and talk to me about.  He was for the greater good of people.  He taught me about "The Crab Mentality," he made me read the "Willie Lynch Letter" and taught me several life lessons that I will never forget, but most of all, he took me under his wing and never let go.  He meant so much to me, but Mrs. Pugh asked me just to never forget what he taught me and what he stood for.  I will never forget how great of a man he was.  I know he is resting in peace in Abraham's bossom.

Charles and Reggie TDY in Chicago

March 30, 2015

First of all, Reggie is one of the worst drivers I know and he always drove when TDY.  We were lost in Chicago traveling on the Dan Ryan Expressway and he decided to pull up next to a cab on the expressway to asked for direction.  The cab driver didn't speak English and Reggie was trying to talk to him while driving.  We survived and I promise never to ride with him again. Of course we had to another TDY and he picked me up at my home in Columbia 0130 for a conference that  started at 0800 that day.  Reggie did it to me again!!!
