  Born on October 4th, 1920 in Kollam, Kerala, India, she grew up as the oldest of five in Vazhamootil House and became a teacher. She was married to Joseph Fernandez at age 22.

She retired as the headmistress of her parochial school after 35 years of exemplary service. During her life as a teacher and as a person, she influenced and touched the lives of many people who still remember her fondly.

She joined her children in California in 1985, two years after her husband passed away. She enjoyed living in the U.S. with her children and grand children, with frequent visits to and stays in India. All her 13 grand children are fortunate to have her in their lives during their formative years.

She passed away on July 9th, 2010 in Mountain View, California. She is survived by her 7 children, 13 grand children, 4 great grand children in the US and 2 step-sons and a younger brother in India.

Friends are invited to attend services beginning with a visitation on Wednesday, July14, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, Mountain View, CAlifornia; Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the mortuary chapel. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 10:30 p.m. at St. Athanasius Church, 160 N. Rengstorff Avenue, Mountain View. Interment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos.
