Colonel like I usually call you, I’m still in dismay of your demise, I’m yet to come to the realization of the reality, it is as if it cannot be true that my energetic, playful, brilliant, intelligent, cheerful, caring, and real paddy is gone.

There is no limit to what you and I discuss, there is no line we don’t cross in our conversation, your advice are ever valuable just like your view about life. You are loved by all, your influence among your colleagues robbed on. You are born a solider, you came, you saw, you conquered your world, and you left gallant when the ovation was at its peak. We love you, but the Lord loves you more. We would meet to part no more my “Baga”. Go and enjoy your well deserving rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Mrs Bukola Teidi & Family,
Abuja.

Our Dearly Beloved Sister,

TRIBUTE TO AN ENIGMA, AMAZING PERSONALITY, GALLANT OFFICER AND JOLLY GOOD MILLENITE: -LIEUTENANT COLONEL SEGUN TEIDI

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”...Isaiah 42:10

The Millennium Club is sorry to hear about the passing of one of us; Lieutenant Colonel Segun Teidi, a devote, charismatic and committed member of the club. The news has left members in a state of sadness and shock. The news of his passing has cast an unprecedented gloom on the club’s fora spread across four continents of the world.

As a group that has been in existence for about 25 years, we have been humanity and charity driven and we have attracted humble, hardworking and sincere persons committed to the cause of caring for the less privileged in our society. Your husband- Chazzy (as we popularly called him) joined us about 3 years ago and he has contributed immensely towards the achievement of the club’s goals and ideals.

Whenever we raised funds for our charitable works, Lt. Col. Teidi out of passion and sympathy, would call out other members he perceived as not pulling their weight, urging them in his usual pattern of speaking, to increase their donations so that more downtrodden people could be reached.

When he unfortunately came under the weather, he still deemed it necessary to contribute when we raised funds to feed widows and the aged last yuletide. This is after he had informed the leadership of the club of the colossal amount that has gone into his treatment. Though we were expecting him to take a break, in his usual philanthropic way, he still donated. Chazzy was indeed a philanthropist par excellence.

The club members tried to provide a support base and always remembered him and his health in our group prayer and fasting sessions. However, it has pleased the Lord to permit this but as Christians our hope is in the resurrection.

Beloved Sister, our dearies Latisha and Kisha, be encouraged by Matthew 5:4, be comforted and stay strong.  As a club, Chazzy is the first of us to transition to glory so it cuts deep into our hearts. The club will sorely miss him and we will surely stay in touch with you - his family.

May the perpetual light of Christ shine on the soul of Lt. Col. Segun Teidi and grant his beautiful soul repose, Amen!

Signed

"We only live once...But live it remarkably"!
In the realm of camaraderie and shared moments, Lt. Col. Segun Teidi, or Chazzy as we fondly called him in the Millenium Club, left an indelible mark on our lives. Beyond the distinctions of societal status, he epitomized the essence of humanity.

Chazzy's legacy echoes not in the mere abundance of resources but in the richness of his character. The eulogies from friends and family, far and near attest to a life lived in generosity, kindness, and genuine camaraderie.

As a friend and club member, Chazzy's unwavering commitment for club activities especially our yearly "Wecare" program was remarkable. Even those of us who hadn't met him in person were eager to, drawn by the echoes of his personality.

Chazzy! You are a true Soldier, not only of the Nigerian Army but also a Soldier of Humanity. May God Almighty grant your immediate family, friends and well wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Rest in peace, Chazzy. Your legacy lives on, a testament to a life well-lived.

Lt. Col. Segun Teidi! You have done your part by many lives you have touched. The Bible says “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” Hence, history is already kind to you.
Farewell to a great Humanitarian.

Your love for your people shined like crystals.

I was about crossing the busy Kabusa junction (Apo), that faithful Sunday morning, with the intent of getting a tricycle (Keke) going towards Maxcare Lokogoma for withdrawals and later to Church (LFC, Lokogoma) when I saw this dark complexion man in a Tundra (Hilux) Signalling me to pass.
In my mind, I wondered why a driver would just stop abruptly at the centre of the road to allow an able body pedestrian cross. I noticed the same driver honking the horn so as to get me look in his direction. But already angered, I queried why somebody would ask you to cross and still want to attack you for listening to his order. I questioned the people calling my attention to the blaring horns that, "no be him say make I cross? Why is he now disturbing my peace? But the driver who was also going my way drove ahead and pulled over, (now waiting for me to walk up to where his car was).
In my furious state expecting to "change am" for the driver, then I heard him called my name. Lo and behold, it was Chazzy (then a Major).

You ordered that I hop into the car. We discussed everything about everything back home (Okunland) within that short distance drive and you emphasized your willingness to assist any OKUN sons and daughters with genuine intention. In your usual manner as we were told, I didn't leave without also partaking of your gesture financially.

You informed me of your transfer to Oyo, which didn't allow us meet again that period.

On your elevation to the rank of Lt. Col. less than 2 years ago, all effort to attend the decoration ceremony proved abortive.

Your yearly December empowerment tagged "Teidi Initiative" was not in the news last December, but I was not observant enough to know that you were indisposed.

Your stay on this planet was brief but the impact was huge and it shall be told to generations yet unborn.

Adieu! Lt. Col. Segun Teidi a.k.a Chazzy

Lt. Col. Segun Teidi, you lived a very impactful life right from our days in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria uptil the time you joined us in the Millennium Club. Just as I preached during the night of tribute organized by our Club in your memory, nothing work in the Kingdom without love. Because you lived a life of love for humanity that made everything to work for you. We cannot forget you in a hurry in our Club and Community at large. Adieu gallant officer of the Nigerian Army! Adieu great Abusite ! Adieu great Millenite !

It is not how long we live that counts but how well we live. Chazzy lived a brief yet impactful life, short but inspiring life. His Humanitarian impactful endeavours and other legacies will continue to live on in our hearts and our communities.

Though I never had the chance to meet you in person, we interacted virtually/online through Millennium Club WhatsApp group and private chats. Before joining the club in 2020, I had heard a lot of great stuff about you through mutual friends. My very first awareness about you was many years ago when I bought my first car, and it was to be transported from Lagos to Warri, a mutual friend spoke to you about providing escort support, and you were willing to help despite you not knowing me, though I had made alternative arrangement before you were informed, nevertheless, your willingness to assist speaks so much about your kindness.

Many years later, when I saw a lot of your humanitarian activities, it didn’t come as a surprise, I knew you had a heart to help, and God saw your heart and placed the means in your hands and you did not disappoint HIM, as you became ears to the deaf, eyes to the blind, and legs to the lame. What and how we give is not a function of abundance of resources but a function of abundance of the “Giving grace”, like the church of Macedonian, God empowered you with a giving grace, and as a true and faithful servant, you deployed your divine endowment to the admiration of many and glory of your maker.

I remember my first call to you in 2020 as the then Millennium Club Mayor to welcome you to the club, I gave you a brief rundown of our activities, and you were so excited about the great stuff the club is doing in making life worth living for many, and we delved a bit into “Teidi Initiatives” where I offered you advice and suggestions. Your commitment to the annual Millenium Club “wecare” program was legendary, despite your struggles and challenges, you still showed up poignantly and contributed to the scheme in 2023.

I recall our conversations on career, future, and other things in October 2023, it is sad you could not live to actualize your dreams, but Chazzy, you lived a great life, your footprints are indelible in the sand of time, and your magnanimity was intense, the rapidity of it was captivating, and your legacies live on.

To your loved ones especially your immediate family, losing a loved one is a pain one is never prepared for, I acknowledge the pain of your loss, but may you also find joy in the stories and memories of Chazzy. I pray for strength for your wife, children, and others to remain steadfast in the Lord even in the tempest storm of life. I encourage you with this:
“No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand”.

May the soul of Lt. Col. Segun Teidi rest in peace, and God grant the family and friends the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

I don’t need to know you on a personal basis to testify that you lived a good and impactful life.

From the words, emotions, tears, mixed feelings and reactions by people, following your demise, I know a rare gem is gone.

You may have been called by God but you will never be forgotten. RIP

A Tribute to a Generous, Fun-loving Soldier-Friend. Segun “Chazzy” Teidi.

I celebrate the life and cherish the memory of a remarkable individual who brought joy and kindness to the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to know him. My dear friend and brother, a soul of unparalleled generosity and an unwavering commitment to service, has left an indelible mark on our hearts.

I remember the first time I met you in St. Augustine’s College, during one of the summer classes you organized for secondary students years back, I called you “Mr black and white” because of your contrasting colors of your dark skin and the white top and white shirt you had on. You were always there to lift those around you up.
You later joined us in the Millennium Club and you left your usual generosity-stamp on the club. Mehn…Chazzy you will be missed.

As a soldier, you exemplified courage and dedication, serving your country with honor and distinction. Your unwavering bravery on the battlefield was matched only by your remarkable ability to uplift those around you, even in the darkest of times. You possessed the rare talent of finding humor in the most difficult situations, reminding us to cherish the present amidst the chaos around us.

You did not only embraced life with such vivacity on the battlefield, My friend, you had a contagious zest for living, bringing laughter and smiles wherever you went. Your radiant spirit illuminated our lives like a sunbeam on a cloudy days, whether it was organizing impromptu get-together for a visitor or while visiting friends or making friends feel at home wherever you were or had been, even in your absence, you were “everly” present.

With heavy hearts, I bid farewell to an extraordinary soul who fought courageously against the relentless grip of illness. Though our time together was unfairly cut short, your laughter and kindness will forever echo in the memories of those you left behind. Your compassion and resilience taught me the true meaning of strength. As I navigate through the grief in the days ahead, I celebrate your indomitable spirit and the love you shared so wholeheartedly. My consolation is in the word of God that reminds us that the good souls are taken up to heaven early so they will not be corrupted. Rest in peace my dear Chazzy. Your legacy will live on eternally.

*TRIBUTE TO MY DEAR FRIEND NAMESAME LT. COL. SEEGUN TEIDI*

As your body has been committed to the mother earth,
But you know what they say,
God only takes the best.
Everything happens for a reason,
Even if we may not agree.
Just promise to look after us,
And if you can,
Save a spot up there for us.
The thought of never seeing you again brings tears to our eyes,
And even more so,
Because all of this was such a surprise.
But we should never question what God has planned,
Sometimes it’s not meant for us to understand.
So as we sit here and mourn the loss of a beloved friend, Lt. Cot Segun.
We have to keep telling ourselves that we will meet again.
We are here to celebrate your life
And the measure of its worth
And every single life you touched
While you were on this earth.
We wish to pay our last respects.
That’s why we all are here, putting down this memory of you.
To thank you for your friendship
And all the memories we hold dear.
It’s been a privilege to have known you.
We were family as a millennite, not just friends,
And we will carry you in spirit
Until we meet up once again.... Adieu! Adieu!! Adieu!!!.

Elder Michael Segun Toluhi.

My dearest brother and friend @ Lt. Col. Segun Teidi,

Believe you're now in a better place, can read and hear us all.

It's difficult to call you "Late", same as to pen down a tribute to you this early.

We all grieve and are unable to know why death removed you - one of the best of humanity.

I met you only briefly but it was a great meet, you displayed generosity, kindness, empathy, hardworking, genuineness, love, soundness and humility.

Against the general saying that many good people die on time, it shouldn't have been you for now.

Lots in mine heart but I really can't believe we're doing this about you already, too too early.

May The Almighty God grant your Soul eternal rest, be with both families you left behind, especially your wife and kids, also with all those who were under your supports as we all morn your sudden departure to glory.

Bye bye my brother and friend, till we meet to part no more.

O Lord of light and loving Father, behind each of the candles we have lit is a story of a person in need.

Some need physical healing, some are in distress, some we know are ready to give up. Lord, we are in need of your mercy and grace.

These candles, O Lord, remind us of Jesus and how He came to earth to “heal the sick,” “bind up the broken hearted,” and forgive sin.

Give us, we pray, comfort in our anxiety and fear, courage and strength in our suffering, patience
and compassion in our caring, consolation in our grieving.

Please strengthen our faith and hope, now and always, through the great name of Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Amen.

LIEUTENANT-COLONEL SEGUN TEIDI - THE OFFICER! THE LEGEND!!

God is sovereign.

God reigns over all.

He knows the end from the beginning, even before its time.

He is God Almighty, unquestionable in all things!

It’s so difficult writing a tribute to my departed brother and friend, this is way too soon. You should have lived longer, brother. Words fail me to express my thoughts of you. For days, I struggled to write this.

Our paths first crossed in year 2000 at the IJMB A-levels, Osara Campus, we would go on to be close-knit friends and roommates at Ahmadu Bello University – Zaria, for 3 years: Tafawa Balewa Hall (B33 & C34) and Ali Akilu Hall AA144).

We quarreled over the mundane and ineffectual things and made up as kids did and should. We had many funny names for each other. We never had a dull moment.

When school is not in session, you were a regular guest at my family house, our card and ludo games with our friends – Jide, Felix and others, along with my kid sister, were our regular pastimes.

I look back at those days we had no money, we sometimes cooked rice without oil, fish or meat, we shared shirts to augment the few we had and did all sorts to survive. In all those years, you had a strong belief in God, you were such a religious man and great was your faith. At 6am on Sundays, you would be up to join the bus at Kongo Campus Second Gate conveying students to Kwangila Winners Chapel Branch, Zaria. I was always amused, while you were an ardent believer, I questioned all. I was a freethinker and what had church got to do with me? How wrong I was.

I learnt a few things along the line – God answers prayer and for as many as call on Him, He is ever so near!

God did answer our prayers, I got the bank appointment and you got your commission into the Nigerian Army. You were even posted to Bonny Cantonment (81 Division) Victoria Island, Lagos and my office was also in Victoria Island. So we continued seeing each other, now under a different atmosphere. I was always held up with work and rarely have time to visit, but you, “my brother and friend” will come to me!

Behind my office at Ajose Adeogun Street, at the lounge called “Pitch”, we would meet and spend time together for hours. I remember your stay at Etim Inyang Street, Moloney Street and your dedicated enclave at Alpha Beach, Lekki – you always carved a niche for yourself, you were always a name to reckon with, you were the golden fish in the pond, you were never hidden.

At your subsequent postings to Zaria, Enugu, Minna, Ibadan, Gwoza and Abuja, a part of me always was with you. When you told me of your posting to Gwoza, at the height of the insurgency, I had my heart in my mouth but I never lost hope, I prayed with you “you shall return safely” and so it was. You came back to us hale and hearty, not even a scathe. Same war that claimed and continues to claim thousands, you went and came back, to the glory of God.

When we met after your return from the war theatre of Borno, you relieved the horrors of the battlefields, the carnage and bloodbath; you were no longer the same man.

On contentious issues, you were highly opinionated and firm, you called it “grip”. I was one of the few who could confront you and dare you; this often ended in funny fights.

When you earned the prestigious Force Service Star FSS, we had a mild party at Atican Beach, Lagos, Google saved a video of your comic words that day.

You were full of life, always joyous, always happy. You were an encouragement against depression.

Whenever we are gathered at your call, you were always the center of attraction, the rallying point. You were a constant source of encouragement to especially your friends; we would give you the unofficial title “Obakebijo” – the King that unites the household! So goes your legend.

Great you were and greatly were your doings.

You created a world of your own and filled it with people.

Wherever you went, you created your own followership, a civilization of sorts.

You were the man with the crowd, a true man of the people.

You were detribalized and tolerant, humanity was the religion you practiced.

A man of many colours.

You were a legend in truth and indeed!

Nobody crossed your path without leaving with a smile, even strangers.

Nobody called you for rescue that was ever disappointed.

The many that had access to you would testify of your uncommon benevolence.

The mouths you fed were countless.

The hands you blessed with money were without numbers.

You named no one an enemy who does not so-declare himself, you embraced all!

Selfless you were.

A giver by nature.

You sponsored a corporate philanthropy – Teidi Initiative and with this, you assisted many, you promoted sports, education, public health, youth advancement, women empowerment and mutual friendship, among others.

Tirelessly, you gave. To the very end, you were a giver of repute!

You lent your goodwill and compassion to worthy causes that bear the marks of a true brother and believer, after the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 25:35-40.

Painfully, you were betrayed.

I recall your pain relieving the betrayals, disloyalties, treacheries and negative words you endured from many whom you had blessed prior.

Such were the tragic realities of the human world.

Why would anybody eat of your food, drink of your wine and raise a tongue against you?

Why would anyone take your money, thank you for the help and turn against you like an animal? Even dogs are better behaved.

You had an excellent career progression and the higher you rose, the more you gave of yourself and resources to society and to family and friends.

I remember you wearing two stars as a Lieutenant, three stars as a Captain, an eagle as a Major, a star + eagle as Lieutenant-Colonel and I always looked forward to seeing you wear the stars and sword of the Major-General rank you aspired to.

You were a proper Nigerian, patriotic and heroic in your passion and defense of the fatherland, its unity, peace, progress and greatness – a worthy cause to which you would lend your might and courage for sixteen great years.

You were a rising star, you had all it takes to get to the peak. You had a clear shot at the pinnacle of your dreams and nothing important stood on your path to glory.

I personally testify to your magnanimity. You were a ready help when I needed it the most. I fell on hard times but was hopeful – I have God and a few loyal friends like you and you alone was the equivalent of twenty others.

When I decided I have had enough of the chaos that was life in Lagos and decided to move to Ibadan, you told me there was a place waiting for me at Letmauck Cantonment, Mokola-Ibadan, same house you had lived in as a Major. While there, I never lacked, the officers on ground accorded me the esteem and friendship they would accord you in your absence – I was the Colonel’s brother!

At the Officers Mess, I had a standing with the patrons and operators that was uncommon to civilians – my brother is a certain Lieutenant-Colonel Teidi – a big name that open doors.

When I decided to emigrate, you showed yourself magnanimous and for this, I acknowledge my debt to you; God’s willing, I shall restore the same to your family in your absence.

I find it so hard to relate death near your name.

It’s so painful to imagine your loving wife become a widow so early in life. A virtuous lady, a dutiful wife, a great mother, hospitable, loving, kind and patient – you always revere her as “answered prayer”, I call her "our mother".

How about your children? Your days start and end with them – if you are away from home, you’ll call them every morning and evening, and one can imagine the love when you are with them - a dedicated and doting father you were.

Who will care for your aged parents now? You were the son every parent wishes to have.

A big vacuum is left in the hearts and minds of your siblings, niblings, piblings, cousins, neighbors, friends, employees, colleagues, course mates, underlings and protégés.

Nobody would know how many people will be most affected by this tragedy. So many destinies were tied to yours.

In death as in life, Segun you are a great man!

For the countless monies you gave out, we say: thank you.

For the countless medical bills you paid, we say: thank you.

For the countless mouths you fed, directly and by proxies, we say: thank you.

For the countless cloths you gave out, we say: thank you.

For the many you gave shelter and paid rents for, we say: thank you.

For the many you gave a means of livelihood, we say: thank you.

For the many you empowered, we say: thank you.

For the many you gave a shot at greatness, we say: thank you.

In death as in life, Segun we thank you, our hearts thank you.

You left us better than you met us.

You made your imprints on our hearts.

You left your marks on the sand of time.

You were a bridge.

Your name is etched forever in our minds, never to be forgotten.

You came, you saw and you conquered.

You have left us so soon but we are not without hope for you and for ourselves: “For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died." (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14).

"…I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26)

"But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself." (Psalm 49:15)

I still remember the days at Living faith church Kabba, when you were in the protocol unit. You were always so committed to serving God diligently.

We lost touch except the occasional run-ins when we visited Kabba during the holidays. However, we reconnected again when you became a member of Millenium Club.

Your commitment to the values of the club was genuine. You speak on occasion and your words were weighty and valuable. You not only speak, you also back it up with credible actions.

Your generosity was felt by the beneficiaries of our We-Care program since you joined the club. Whenever urgent needs came up, you never ceased to contribute your quota. You stood tall and calm inspiring confidence in the group. Your reputation of being candid and straightforward resonates with us all as club members. Though you are no more with us on this side of the divide, we are certain that as long as those whose lives you have touched lives, you will never be forgotten.

Rest on Chazzy as we fondly call you, my brother and comrade till me meet on the resurrection morning.

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
Your light hearted laughter ...
Your cheerful yet carefree commentaries...
Your positive, candid yet friendly greetings ...
Your benevolence and generosity...
Your humility and grace ...
Your calmness and ever radiating confidence ...

Many know you for different reasons and in several roles. You were a husband, father, son, brother, in-law, friend, benefactor and comrade.

Your impact might have been short but you live on in the works you have done. They will continue to speak and they truly speak volumes. As long as we who know you and those that have enjoyed your benevolence are alive, you will never be forgotten.
Adieu my brother!

Chazzy....
It's hard to believe you're gone forever, till eternity. In your life after death, be assured that your guys mourns you at this end. I'm missing you!
The vacuum you left behind is so deep and so wide. We cannot question God for the ways and manners he chooses to administer His wishes concerning His handmade.
Every day I pray for you, till the day we meet again. Memory gives me the strength I need to believe, the strength I need to proceed. My thought are bigger just be defined, knowing you're gone till we meet again at the last day.
I pray for Mrs. Bukola Teidi your wife and the kids for strength require to stay strong.
Indeed our God is incomprehensible, I therefore took time out to pray for your aged parents Chief. Hon. and Mrs. Babalola Teidi for fortitude to bear the irreplaceable lost.
