One time I was troubled by an interaction with an aquaintance and talked to him about how that person had treated me so harshly. He explained that they brought their own history to the table and that things will even out in the world. And how I didn't have to do anything to straighten out the mistreatment because it would happen by itself. He was speaking of Karma, but didn't use the word. I let it go and think of his words when experiencing an unpredictable injustice from a stranger.

When we were kids Dad bought a big old trailer stationed at Strawberry Reservoir. We would go there in the station wagon every weekend as soon as the snow melted until it got unbearably cold again. In the summer that is when we got treats. At home we never had snacks or dessert in the house, but at Strawberry Dad would make sure there was plenty of cheap soda and a gallon of ice cream for everyone in the area to have.
When I had kids, snacks in his house were a mainstay. As soon as we got to his house they would ask Granpaw if they could have a soda and he would send them to the extra fridge where they and their friends could have their choice. That was the only time they got soda. Granpaw's house.

As a young person we had a new friend who had left his motor bike at the house because it had broken down. We felt badly for him, so we asked Dad to fix it. Dad was quick to get the right parts for it and fix it. We loaded the motor bike into the SUV and drove it over to this kid's house. What a surprise it was to his mother that he had stolen a motor bike and broke it too!
