Our dear colleague and friend, Thomas Bartee, passed away on March 19th, 2024. Tom was a remarkable husband, father, and team member and was always available for colleagues and teammates. Whether it was catching a baseball game at Wrigley Field, or playing spades in Romania, to epic cornhole games until 2 am, or even arguing about how good the Cowboys would be that year, Tom was always loveable and a genuine kind soul.

Tom dedicated his life to serving our nation and the US Navy. He always looked professional to the hilt and was revered and loved by so many in the RMC and NSF community. Tom had an extensive career and made impactful contributions in the fields of law enforcement, physical security, and anti-terrorism across military and naval organizations. Tom was a Mission Assurance pioneer as a Navy NCIS investigator and continued his service to the Navy and Marine Corps after his retirement at RMC as a core member of our Mission Assurance and MCI teams. He was instrumental in the growth of RMC in 2015 as we expanded our assessment process from the USMC to add Naval Installations worldwide. As an active duty NCIS Agent, Tom became a believer in our risk-based processes and encouraged the Navy to adopt RMC’s methodologies. His efforts and relationships were critical to the rapid implementation of the tailored Navy Mission Assurance Assessment.

Tom was exceptional at showing others he cared and a relationship builder, and his superpower was his ability to connect with people. He simply had a way of taking over the room when he spoke. We will miss Tom dearly, and he leaves with us wonderful memories of our time spent with him sharing stories and getting to know one another. In today’s rapidly moving and technology-first world, Tom reminds us that the most important thing we can do each day is connect with, and support, each other.

Tom Bartee always had that "swagger" and will be missed!

Our hearts go out to the family and the entire RMC Team during this time of deep sorrow. Tom seemed always cool, calm, and collected during the several assessments we worked on together. I just wish I could have enjoyed that Tiki Hut he spoke so highly of! Tom's swagger defined: From the moment and way he walked into a room, he was always confident on the job and sometimes aggressive (lol saying with humor). He knew his job and loved the work he provided to support his country. Miss you Tom! I'm sure you've found those chicken wings! Sending our deepest sympathy to the family.

As a few people said on the Celebration of Tom I always think of his tiki bar, chicken wings and the Cowboys. During the initial inception of the Navy program, we traveled to Key West and Guam - we had challenges, but Tom always faced them head on never got flustered. We had an typhoon and earthquake in Guam. A few times when I came down to Norfolk, he and Jenn hosted me at the tiki bar - they played amazing hosts. Tom you are missed and thanks for all you did for everyone.

I met Tom during my very first Navy Assessment with RMC almost 9 years ago in Panama City. I had only been with RMC just a couple of weeks, and at that point, had only met a few people. I remember Tom and Chip greeting me right away and welcoming me to the team. I specifically remember that he had traveled with a poker set and he and Chip invited me to join a causal game of poker outside by the pool at our little dingy Hampton Inn and I knew right away that RMC and the assessment teams were more than just co-workers, they were great friends. You are missed Tom. Thank you for all of the fun and laughs you brought to all of the teams. I hope the Tiki bar up there is as great as yours is!

The man, the myth, the legend. Growing up at the same age and place as his kids, I was fortunate enough to spend a significant portion of my childhood around Tom and the rest of the Bartee family. From early mornings and late nights on the baseball field, cookouts in the tiki hut, and listening to him rave about how this year is the Cowboys' year (it wasn't), one thing was for certain - there was never a dull moment around Tom. He and his family always treated me as one of their own, with Tom at the forefront of it all. He was a role model to me in every sense of the word, and I'm very fortunate to have known him in the capacity that I did. Rest easy, Tom.

Thank you Tom for your friendship and showing us what a life of service and connection looks like. Thank you for your early support as a new leader at RMC and for your continued trust in the company and the important work we do, it meant a lot to me. I will miss seeing you on assessments and at the annual meeting. RIP my friend - Vince Kuchar

It's hard to find words to describe Tom and our friendship. With a casual glide as he walked or his pirate smile, to his smart quips with that Tennessee drawl, Tom had a way of taking over the room when he spoke. He was self-made and an inspirational patriarch to his family. He was also a great friend, and I will miss him dearly. Cheers, and rest in peace Tom.

What a guy. He guided and mentored me upon checking aboard the RMC Family. Tom had a true warriors spirit never let the little things bug him and always available to handle the big things. As an NCIS agent he worked closely with another mentor of mine in the SEAL Team whom also spoke highly of Tom. I cherished the time working in the office (Tiki) to get things done. Tom and his family are and will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
