As it's clear from this memorial, Uli had truly many many friends! it was impossible not to be charmed by his personality, where scientific knowledge and rigor matched his candor, joy and optimism. We first met I believe back in '83 in Munich, and I have been honored by his friendship ever since. I will miss him.

I vividly remember Uli from my time at Fermilab, where we used to talk about physics and other things and to go out for dinner in the evening. His dedication to physics, his friendly and welcoming personality, his exceptionally kind and humorous character have left a deep impression on me, which I will never forget.

He was like a light bulb coming into any room.
The whole place lit up. On our last meeting, this Spring, he greeted me with a memory of my own children from 25 years ago. How many physicists will do that! He was better than the theorists: he was a great human being.

Dear Yvonne and the Baur Family, I had the pleasure of knowing Uli for 6 years as a grad student at UB. He was a kind, fun, and energetic person, a patient teacher, and a devoted mentor. He will be greatly missed.

Ulrich Baur was my first diploma student, and later
ph. d. -student at the university in Munich. He finished his ph.d. in 1985. After 1987 he lived in my apartment in Ferny, while working at CERN. During the years I was in close contact with him. For me it is difficult to believe that he does not
live anymore. We were good friends, and I will miss him.

Great loss in every sense. Uli was a fatherly figure for junior members of the HEPCOS group in Buffalo. His vision actually lead to creation of the HEPCOS group. He always offered his help, even when I did not ask for it. Always cheerful and smiling. He will be truly missed.
