Wayne was the best in so many ways. As J.B. mentioned I had the great experience with the 4:00 am wakeup to go fishing with a hangover with Wayne at Tobacco caye. Our parents were best friends & our families blended together and we remained friends over the years. I had a job that required a five year background investigation and Wayne was my number one reference that
Vouched for me. He climbed the corporate ladder yet remained grounded and humble and made us all feel like a royalty.
He established a great template for us to follow.
My heart felt sympathy goes out to the Wagner family.
RIP & Rise in Glory my friend.

I have not seen Wayne for many years, but the childhood memories remain. We were as close as any family could get when we were growing up. I remember all the wonderful years and happy times at tobacco caye. Rest in peace friend.
It's okay to miss you,
It's okay to cry.
Just know I'll never forget you.
This isn't a permanent goodbye.

Dearest Wagner family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Wayne was a colleague of ours for nearly twenty years. He was always gracious and the epitome of a true gentleman. His warm greetings and hospitality when we visited the office were certainly genuine and appreciated. He would go out his way to ensure all visitors were treated kindly and were attended to properly.
He was very proud of his family, telling events of growing children and of his grandchild.
It was our honor to have known him. Our hearts are with you,

Dear Wagner Family,
I have been blessed and honored to be Wayne's friend for 35 years. We have shared many joys and family milestones throughout these years. Wayne and I remained friends even after I moved on from Castelazo/Tower Group and I will dearly miss our lunches together where we would bring each other up to date on our kids and life in general. When Wayne called me last month before his surgery, I was naturally worried, but in true Wayne fashion, he got me laughing and assured me all would be well. I even teased him he needed to head to Belize to recuperate and forget about work for awhile and I know he is there in spirit with his dad. I will miss Wayne's kindness and smile and his wonderful contagious laugh. He lifted me up and always made a point to remind me that he admired my strength and determination and that was so typical of him. Wayne always thought of others and he always made us feel important and loved.
My heart is broken with the loss of our dear Wayne, but I know he is still with us and I can hear him telling us not to be sad and putting a positive spin on all of this. Family and friends were everything to Wayne and we are all so very fortunate to have had this amazing and kind and gentle person in our lives for as long as we did.

My dear friend, my life today was formed and shaped in those many wonderful memorable childhoods days we shared at Holy Angels Primary school and Ecumenical High School. You were always brilliant and humble at the same time, serious and full of joy. The class room and parties were not the same if you were absent, that bigger than life personality was infectious.
As I reflect on all we did together, I now realized that it was your discipline and awareness of knowing what was important, knowing your priorities and your persistence in achieving your goals was the biggest influence on my life.
High school days were always full of excitement with teachers like Bolt Stanley, Mrs. Woodye and our ever daring principal Mr. Flores. They stretched us and we delivered. Our Chemistry teacher Mr, Duffy was unexcitable but you liked him. I remember going with you to those after school tutorial sessions at his house, I learned nothing but you did.
The Leo club activities were our passport on Fridays for escaping our parents and have some fun in Dangriga. We stayed back after school knowing fully well that we it will be challenging getting a ride home back to Alta Vista (Salada) nonetheless we stayed.
We kept our secrets, protected each other and keep each other grounded.
End of high school was tough as you prepared and left for school in the US. Your mom and dad and family remained kind to me and we stayed close. While time and distance kept us apart, there is never a moment up to now, when I am asked who is my best friend that I do not call your name "Wayne"
Like your lovely wife, kids, family and friends, its hard to say goodbye. I know I will see you on the other side. I pray God's peace and Grace for your wife and rest of your family and I promise I will make very effort to see your mom soon. Love you man!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because I am a believer I could say Wayne’s calling has come to us as a shock however know trust & believe in God’s plan and purpose in each and every one of our lives. Our families have been bonded over 20 years working side-by-side in the transportation industry-sharing lake trips, barbecues, New Year’s parties , music concerts & festivals, trips to Tobacco Caye... “Tinman” was my dear friend, a pure gentleman, a family man of character & integrity... he opened the doors for my career at FedEx Trade Networks and was my mentor. He was very intelligent and had a smile and laugh that lit up the conference room! “But of course”... Mr. Proper... my sincere & deepest condolences to his lovely family and the entire Wagner family- sending you love & comfort and God’s grace & strength to focus on the memories and blessings we shared with Wayne. Until we meet again~ Tingial

I've known Wayne from my childhood days. He always wore a smile on his face. He always came across to me as a very shy person in his younger days. As we grew up into adulthood we lost contact with each other but I was lucky enough to ran into him in California on several occasions. I have such fond memories of him. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. I'm at total loss of what to say, as I'm still in shock. I want the entire Wagner family to know that I am so sorry for their loss. Heaven has gained an angel. RIP Wayne.

Wayne Sr, you easily were one of the most genuine human beings I have ever been blessed to know. You made me and every person you came in contact with feel special and good about themselves. You truly were interested in every word, experience, story that anyone had and you made us know it. The way you cared for your family was nothing short of inspiring. You and all of the Wagner’s made me feel like family, from random afternoon visits, dinners, barbecues, holidays, and much much more. I found another family. Thank you.
I’ll never forget your love, care and appreciation. I’m going to miss you. Rest easy, Wayne.
Love, Dustin

I will cherish milestone memories and precious moments in between:
- Wayne & lovely Larita, at their wedding, everyone ecstatic, dancing to the song "Nani Wine...."
- his top-notch professionalism and successes starting at Castelazo & Associates, then Tower Group Int'l and Fedex;
- as busy working parents, trading stories about the joys and challenges of raising our daughters and sons.
Fast forward decades later, shortly before I retired, last time we laughed a lot together at a farewell lunch, he said, "...but of course, MAD, you must visit someday when I'm also retired in Belize..." That was vintage Wayne, in his baritone voice, like it was mellowed with fine rum, brows slightly raised, his eyes looking straight at you, unwavering, reflecting his heart of gold and his most generous and kind soul. What a privilege having a sliver of the gift that he was to all of us, gone too soon.
To dearest Larita and the Wagner family, I offer my heartfelt condolences, hugs and prayers.

It has been a privilege to have been a part of Wayne's life. He was always so proper and such a gentleman...a.k.a - "Mr.Proper" He had a kind heart always smiling and made me laugh. He brought the best out of me.
Wayne was a man of integrity and intelligence...he set the bar high. He was so giving in so many different ways and cooked the best barbecue.
There are so many still in disbelief that he has passed on, he had left a mark in all of us. He will be deeply missed by all.
Wayne Wagner - "what a great human being and a huge blessing"
Thank you Breds for the great memories...
You will forever remain in our hearts and never be forgotten.
May you rest in peace,

One of my favorite memories of Wayne was at Castelazo when I was working with a Belizian client who was importing a litany of FDA nightmares and other delectables. I saw him in the hall and mentioned that I had a client bringing in guava jelly from Belize when he starts singing, "Come on and rub my belly with the guava jelly...". He said it was a well known song down there. Cracked me up. Later at Tower Group he was my manager and one of the best managers I"ve had-- could diffuse any situation with a stressed client or employee, and just an all around supportive, level headed guy. You left us too soon, Wayne. The world will be a little darker without your infectious smile to light it up!

Thank you Wayne for your friendship, wonderful light-up-the- room smile, warmth and good humor. I met Wayne back at Castelazo & Assoc. way back in the 80's and became friends and sometimes tennis partners. He was a wonderful person to work with and he brought a lot of joy and compassion to daily living. Thank you Wayne, for enriching our lives and sure will miss you.

It seemed as if Wayne never had a bad day. He always greeted everyone with a huge infectious smile that could make you forget that you were having a bad day, if you were. Kind, genuine, patient, calm, respectful, well-spoken, polite are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think of Wayne, but most of all....unforgettable.
The entire Wagner family and all those who he has touched are in my thoughts and prayers.
You will never be forgotten.

I remembered the first time I met Wayne. We were told that we would be having a new maths teacher and his last name was Wagner. I was curious because I was Wagner as well. And I had always dreamt of being taught by a family member. The previous teacher had left because it was rumored that our class was trouble. Mind you this was the first graduating class of the newly amalgamated ACC.... duh. Well Wayne came in, fresh kid just back from studying abroad. Well equipped with new approaches and understanding of the generation X's. He was an instant hit. I could understand the females loved him- damn he was good looking!!! But the males also took a liking to him because of his great and humble personality. He became our closest friend, one we could take any of our problems to and he would have solutions. That 1983 class loved him because he inspired us to learn. I cant believe he has gone. We will all miss you Teach!!! I will miss you cuz.

We are heartbroken. This have hit us to the core. Wayne Jefferson Wagner, Sr. Was one of the kindest, sweetest, most compassionate person. We will definitely miss that contagious smile. Who would have thought that the last time we saw you, getting the boat ready and making sure not to forget Ms. Yolie’s Johnny Cakes, would be the last time we would see you. We can still picture Wayne sitting at our kitchen table on one of his many visits to our home eating split peas or some special Belizean dish we would make especially for him. You see, he was just that kind of person....you would want to do whatever you can for him...just hoping that maybe you can be as kind as he was. Wayne will be greatly missed by all of us, Carlos, Jo, Sheena and Marsha. Our deepest condolences to Aunt Glor, Bev, Mark, Wince, Floyd, Jr. Lar and the children. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

My friend with the Hollywood smile and joyous laugh; my heart is broken for your family and the friends you left behind. Wayne was one of the most dedicated and respectful people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. During many visits to the Los Angeles office and encounters throughout the US these past twenty plus years, we became allies and friends.
When Wayne talked about his wife and children, his face lit up...his stories about the country of his birth and his parents also meant everything to him! A good and honorable man...with a great sense of humor too. You will be missed - God bless everyone; your legacy will continue. Know that you made a difference and that you mattered.
Love and friendship always, Ann

The one thing I will always remember about Wayne was his patience. I've worked with him all of my 22 years with the company and he always had time to answer a question, give advice, or point me in the right direction, even when I knew he didn't have that time to spare. He's always been a mentor and wanted nothing but the best for me. A very smart, well spoken, and patient true gentleman! He is one of the nicest men I have ever met, and will be missed dearly. Rest well.

Wayne was one of the kindest, nicest people I have known. Whenever I was around him he was always smiling and joking around. To say that he will be missed is a huge understatement. However, I don’t have the words to express the empty void that he has left in my world. Life as I knew it has changed forever. My deepest sympathies to aunt Gloria, Beverly, Mark and Winston who I know closely, and are like a family to me. Wayne’s light shone brightly while he was on this earth and we will have to figure out a way to live without him. To aunt Gloria, Beverly, Mark and Winston, I pledge to pray for you consistently. I pray that God grant you the peace that passeth all understanding. Goodbye Wayne, you will be forever missed.

Wayne my couz. You are one of a kind. There are so many good memories of you it’s hard to write just one, but one of my favorite is when we were younger and i lived in LA. You were still in college. I would cook every Sunday and you would come by “ to check on Aunt Joan” he would say and at the same time eying the food just waiting to be asked “do you want to eat”.
Wayne: yes man. Do you have enough?
He would sit and eat and after he was done he would kind of hang around still looking at the food.
Me: do you want to take some for tomorrow?
Wayne: yes man. Do you have enough? Are you sure? ( and if you know him well enough you can see the look on his face and the half smile)
One Sunday he came and brought Owen with him. They ate and hang around for a little while and when they got ready to leave I ask if they wanted to take some food with them. Before Wayne could answer Owen said “Yes man. And don’t worry I have my Tupperware in the car”.
Now every time I would go to Wayne's house he would cook and offer me some of his cooking.
My cousin with a big heart, a warm heart, very considerate and humble and ALWAYS a gentleman. Wayne I love you so much and will miss you more

Difficult to know where to start
Guess I can start back when we hired an eager young man, even though he was planning on becoming an engineer.
I had the great pleasure of watching Wayne build a great career in brokerage industry and becoming a role model to so many others.
I knew that I could always count on his support as we all worked to build Castelazo & Assoc. what a great team.
I just completely enjoyed knowing Wayne

Continue to rest my brother. Can't believe you would have been 63 today. I still remember quite vividly you teaching us at ACC. You were the best teacher and even though we had the same surname you remained fair to all of us. My class of 1983, the first graduating class of ACC all looked up to you, and our time spent together at school was something out of the movie. So on this your birthday here is to you, "To Sir, with love"

His Life

A Snapshot of Our Beloved

July 14, 2019
Wayne Jefferson Wagner was born September 15, 1960 in Belize, Central America and was the loving son of Floyd J Wagner Sr (deceased) and Gloria Wagner. Wayne was born humble. At the age of 2 he stayed at his mother's side during a year of illness and never left her side. Wayne grew up in Alta Vista, Stann Creek Valley, attended Holy Angels School and Stann Creek Ecumenical School. Wayne was a bright student; he received many honors and certificates during his four years of high school. He was involved in his community and was Leo president and class president. During his pastime Wayne hung out with his childhood friends: Bruce, Cecil, Raymond, and Carl. At times they did mischievous, boyish activities but Wayne was always conservative and compliant. He never compromised his school work for other activities. During the summers Wayne helped his dad on the farm, spent lots of time at the cayes fishing and swimming, and time in Burrell Boom with his beloved aunt Orma and cousins. Wayne and his siblings Bev, Mark and Winston enjoyed life together in the valley and were very creative in having fun. Wayne loved his parents and had a special connection with them.

Wayne migrated to Los Angeles , California in 1978 to study at Whittier College. During that time he was nurtured by his Aunt Joan and became best friends with Owen Pascacio, now deceased. Wayne also developed a close bond with his brother, Floyd Jr. in his early Los Angeles years. He was a member of Sachsen Society and developed a passion for playing tennis in his free time. Wayne earned a Bachelors in Math and Physics in 1982 and then returned to Belize to be a teacher at Anglican Cathedral College for two years. He lived with his grandmother Ada Wagner, and great-grand aunts. Wayne was very kind to them. He cooked, cut their nails and drove them around to do errands.  During the two years Wayne grew very close to his cousin Jerome and became buddies with Derek Aikman (both are now deceased). They spent many weekends playing music, going to parties, and having interesting conversations about their future.

Wayne returned to Los Angeles in 1984 where he started working at Castelazo and remained there as the company merged into Tower Group and now, FedEx Trade Networks. During the years Wayne achieved many awards, certificates and outstanding achievements for a job well done as a licensed Customs Broker and a Certified Customs Specialist. One of his greatest career accomplishments included being appointed as the Chairman of the Los Angeles Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association. Wayne was well loved by his colleagues and known as an individual who always placed others’ interests before his own.

In 1990, Wayne married his beloved wife Larita Wade and over the next few years, Michael, Elizabeth, Wayne Jr, and Jason were children of a great union. Wayne loved his family,  they were always his number one priority.

Many of Wayne’s vacation time was spent in Belize , fishing at Tobacco Caye and relaxing at his parents vacation house. He never missed an opportunity to fish, goal being to always catch and eat.

Wayne had a heart of gold and epitomized humility, influence and meeting people where they were. Wayne’s behaviors always communicated his values and appreciation for others. His right attitude and belief system encouraged others to live to their greatest potential.

Wayne’s untimely death (for us)on Monday, July 8, 2019 was a shock to his family and friends, but our God knew the exact day and time. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. He will be missed by all and a void is in our hearts that cannot be filled. Rest in peace, our beloved!

Unforgettable cousin and friend

July 20, 2019

It was only yesterday that we dashed off to the river to splash and enjoy our summers together in the valley followed by a meandering walk with Granny  Ada to Pomona. Unforgettable days I will always cherish and hold dear to my heart.  You were the quiet one with the puppy dog eyes and infectious laughter. Family was instilled in us at and you lived it! Your journey through life was shorter but you excelled; be it in family or your business experiences. I am sad, but I know that you have gone ahead to build spread-sheets and coordinate those monthly  meetings to keep the farm and the family functioning. Your joy and love will continue to bind us all and keep our family united and strong - one unit, impenetrably ,indivisible and fused with the passion and joys of life.

Till we meet again my dear cuz......... I love you,

As I read through all of the beautiful tributes to Wayne, I echo and share many of the same stories and feelings expressed by so many who knew and loved him.  A true gentleman, a loving family man, friend and mentor… Like many of his colleagues, I also had the pleasure of meeting and working with Wayne 29 years ago at Castelazo and Associates. Through the years Wayne was always the calm voice of reason, believed in solutions over criticism, led by example through his love for life and glass-half-full attitude, and blessed us regularly with his infectious smile and laughter.  Thank you, Wayne.

1 Thessalonians 14:13-18

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

"Mr Wonderful"

July 15, 2019

I met you for the 1st time in Orange Walk Town on my family home verandah.   Eventhough I was only 16 yrs old, you greeted me with a big hug and said you were my Auntie Lar boyfriend.  Of course exactly 30 yrs later entered my heart with love, respect, honor but most importantly great advice.  To me you're not only my uncle, but I chose you as not one but two of my children's Godfather.  There's not a day that goes by since July 8th 2019 that I don't cry for you. Fortunately,  for me on July 13th you whispered in my ear don't cry "Pinky" I'm ok I  have so many unanswered questions but I know only time will heal.  At first I was in denial, but I've now arrived at the acceptance stage.  I will miss you greeting me in your kitchen asking me if I want a drink. There's absolutely nothing right now that can comfort my broken heart.  I know there will always be a grey sky in our family.  Keep on resting in peace my absolutely extraordinary,  one of a kind, 1% shy of being perfect.  I miss you tons Uncle Wayne...
