First Sergeant William R. Anderson

1SG 295th Ordnance Company

1SG Anderson’s 20 years of military service have all been with the Army Reserves. His duty assignments were with the 172nd Transportation Company in Omaha, NE, the Det. Sergeant with the 922nd Trailer Transfer Point Fremont, NE. In 2003 he was mobilized with the 308th Transportation Company Lincoln, NE and served as a Squad Leader while stationed at Camp Arifjan Kuwait. In 2010 he was mobilized again serving as the Support Operations Sergeant for the 394th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Fremont, NE, while stationed in FOB Speicher Iraq. After deployment he was the Acting Commander for the 189th TTP Council Bluffs, IA and was the First Sergeant for the 295th Ordinance Company Hastings, NE until his retirement from the Army Reserves in July 2014.   

1SG Anderson was mobilized twice in his career. First in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He was stationed in Arifjan Kuwait and ran missions all over Iraq from 2004-05. His second deployment was at COB Speicher in Tikrit, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom X and Operation New Dawn from 2010-11.

1SG Anderson has completed all of his required NCOES in 2008. He received an associates of applied science degree in diesel technology from Northeast Community College, Norfolk, NE in 1998. He also completed a four year Apprentice Program in Utility Line in 2006.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal W/star, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze Hour Glass and M device W#2, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon W #3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon W#2, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Driver and Mechanics Badge and German Armed Forces Efficiency Test Silver Badge.

1SG Anderson has been married for 13 years to Kim Ortmeier. They have three children Meg, Colby and Gage. Willy is employed at Cuming County Public Power District in West Point, NE as a Journeyman Utility Lineman and also raises livestock.
