In memory of our loved one, William Lane, 70  years of age, who was born on April 24, 1943, and passed on January 19, 2014.    We will remember him forever as a beloved husband to Margaret, father of four children, father-in-law, papa to eight grandchildren, brother to Judy, brother-in-law to Herbert, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He will be missed, and his memory will be with those who loved him forever, including family and friends.

He was a soft spoken, caring man, who had a passion for sports and his four legged friends.  He served honorably in the U.S. Army for 3 years, and was also a dedicated employee at Ford Motor Company for 35.  We will always love him, as he will remain in our hearts forever.

Please feel free to add any comments, stories or pictures that you wish to celebrate William's memory.

For My Grandpa by Llona Blake

"I know we are all feeling a little bit sad,
That we've lost our Papa, our friend and our dad
Together we have cried an ocean of tears
As we feel so empty and hold many fears

But Papa would want us to know he's in a good place
And that he watching us all with a smile on his face
As we have made him so proud, as proud as can be
That he has raised such a beautiful and special family

Thinking back now I really must say
I feel lucky and privileged to have known Papa to this day
For in my life, you have played a special part
The memories I will treasure and keep close to your heart

To each one of us he has loved and cared
And a family, be thankful for the good times we shared

Although he has gone we will always be together
And his spirit will live on each one of us forever
When you look to the sky, look for the brightest star
As that will be Papa looking down on us from afar

And now I would like to thank the good Lord above
For blessing us with our Papa with his kindness and love
Dear God, if it is not too much fuss
Take extra special care of our Papa as he is very dear to us

Papa if you are listening say a prayer for us every day
Be sure to protect us and guide us on our way
We know when God called you, you had to go
But we want you to know Papa we miss you and love you so"

Bill: As I remember thoughts of you as we were growing up, I think of how Mom and I were so very cautious when we did your laundry as we never knew what sort of critter would be in your pockets, after your adventurous trips to the Ecorse Creek. Our sibling "feuds", I look back on with fondness! You were always fun to watch with your dogs, Blackie and Prince. You were also the Best Man at my wedding and the God-father to my first born son, Jeff. You were always there for me whenever I needed you. I appreciate all you have done for me over the years. Thanks for the great Las Vegas trip and tour, especially Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire. You will always be missed. So Long, UNTILL.....

On those few occassions where we have been able to enjoy your company, your friendship, your family and your own quiet manner, Laurie and I have greatly appreciated the opporrtunity to have met you and shared your many stories. To the entire family, we are deeply sorry for your loss and hope that in this time you will be able to "live" Bill in your hearts as the life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living. Bill was a wonderful man and we feel privileged to have met him.

The Favorite Holiday

July 4, 2014

During one of our many 4th celebrations, Uncle Bill showed his pyrotech skills by ligting off the fire works and bottle rockets.  The landed into Al's NEW garage.  O2 tanks were stored in the garage!   Everyone took cover, while Uncle Bill laughed his butt off!

Thank you Uncle Bill for making the 4th of July my favorite holiday!  The Grundy Family missed you dearly!  xoxo

Two BFF's

July 4, 2014

In this picture you see two longtime best friends/brothers.  They shared many memories and pulling pranks on one another for their own amuzement.  One of Uncle Bill's favorite stories is when he "got one over on Grundy!"  That was his story of when they both were babysitting sick kids.  They ran out of beer, Uncle Bill insisted he be the one to go more.  When he showed HOURS later he "got one over on Grundy"  lol
