After meeting Janet for the first time, I knew she was special. She lit up the room with her quick wit, smile, and fresh attitude. I’ll remember Janet for the pranks and jokes she pulled on me, but even more for her caring and giving personality. She was quick to analyze the situation but always gave balance to her perspectives, demonstrating empathy and thought for other people’s situation. Janet taught me to stay sharp, stay positive and not take things for granted. I’ll remain forever grateful that she was my friend. But Janet isn’t resigned to the past, her spirit will truly live on in our memories.

God bless Janet. X

Hey Janet! I miss you! I've thought about you a lot and decided to only keep the good memories! Our trip to China and all our adventures will forever have a very special place in my heart. They will be our memories! Thank you for everything you taught me, thank you for your support, thank you for always believing in me! Our last hug (that I always hoped it wouldn't be the last) will forever be my treasure! I'll see you on the other side! Love, Silvia

It was an absolute pleasure meeting Janet and sharing such a memorable chapter with her. Even at the most stressful of times, Janet would always bless us with a beaming smile and positive energy in class. Her strength and ambition are an inspiration and our group would not have been the same without her. She will be greatly missed.

Janet was such a beautiful soul! A pleasure to know from the first moment we connected as we started our Executive MBA course together. Janet's no nonsense approach and zeal for getting her work completed were felt by the entire group. I admired her so much for continuing to pursue her studies, no matter how much she was going through health wise. I am truly blessed to have had the pleasure of knowing such a diligent and determined young woman. I'm devastated her life has been cut short and send the entire family my heartfelt condolences. Thank you, Janet, for touching my life and teaching me the true meaning of perseverance. You will always hold a very special place in my heart. Love, Erika

Having taken the MBA journey with Janet we worked hard and played hard throughout the two years. Whenever things got tough for Janet she shone through with persistence and drive which inspired us all. A fighter to the end she will be sorely missed. Simon x

I’ll always remember Janet for her positive spirit, kind nature and a great sense of humour. We both had similar backgrounds, completing an undergraduate degree at Surrey University and returning for MBA’s where we met years later. Janet was a friendly face and always there to crack a joke, she was a determined and strong lady and I’ll always admire that. Rest in peace Janet, you’ll be sorely missed.

It was a joy being friends with Janet. Having had some health problems myself , I so understood Janet’s feisty approach to continuing with her MBA. We talked about how health problems are just something that happen to us, they don’t define us, and Janet made that true. We worked together on different pieces of group work and had some great laughs and social times at Horsley. On the last weekend that Janet was at Horsley she worked until late with us to make sure we put in our best effort for the presentation. She wasn’t feeling 100% but that didn’t stop her. My last WhatsApp message from Janet is a beating heart emoji, a thank you to the MBA group for the fruit basket we sent. That’s how I will remember Janet – full of feisty energy and heart. Sending thoughts and best wishes and lots of love to all who loved Janet. Mandy xx

Rare Gem

If there was anything that stood out about Yinka, it was how loving and caring she was. It was just in her nature. She was also very assertive, you could never mess with her! I believe those two characteristics and more are what made her impact & progress. She never let surrounding circumstances prevent her from moving forward and achieving which for me is inspirational. I remember not being able to make her birthday celebrations earlier this year, her response was “to be honest I thought you might be saving already” in reference to my wedding coming up. She was always thoughtful and selfless. We can take comfort in the fact that she lived life, overcame the odds and loved God dearly. Gods purpose and plan for you was much greater than our need of you. Rest well till we all meet again. Amen

A true fighter

October 21, 2019
Janet was a fighter. A loveable, fun, intelligent, special fighter. On the MBA, no matter her own issues, Janet constantly worked hard and delivered work that the rest of us, if we were in her situation, simply couldn’t have imagined being able to deliver. Janet always wore a smile, no matter what. I would consistently try and catch her eye in class as she used to sit opposite me, and try and make her laugh- she always tried to ignore me but would then later, outside of class, laugh with me as she berated me for trying to distract her. I miss Janet, her wicked sense of humour, her smile and tenacity. It is utterly unfair that her light is gone so soon- she deserved so much more. Wherever she is now, it will be a better place for having her, and we’re all the worse off that she is gone.
