Because He Lives - Gaither Vocal Band

Growing up on a dairy farm in northeastern Ohio, Dorothy was always interested in family stories. She listened to our mother, aunts and uncles as they told stories about the past. As a child, she was always a Christian and enjoyed Friends meeting and first day school. She went to public school until tenth grade, when she started Olney Friends School; which was a family tradition for us. It was there that she got the nickname DJ. In 1970 she graduated, and began her four years at Malone College. She began teaching then, and has been teaching ever since.

From Ohio, to Fort Myers, Florida, to Miami, then St. Augustine to Jacksonville she was dedicated to teaching history. She truly loved it when the kids got excited listening to stories about how it was to live back in those times, or how it felt to be Napoleon, or Henry the Eighth, etc. She inspired countless students to get excited by history. She loved almost all of her students and watched them grow into responsible adults (or college students). She was always worried about those A-P scores when they were available.

She married her best friend, Paul Weinman on June 26, 1982 in Fort Myers, Florida, and added 2 sons to the family - Scott and Curtis Weinman.  She has always been dedicated to her family and her teaching career along with her Christian faith.  As a teacher she made the world a better place by reaching students in her special, gentle way. As a wife and mother, she left 3 extraordinary men here to carry on her legacy.  As a sister - well, as I told her last week, she was the best sister in the whole world, and I will forever miss her.
