To the Weinman family: just saw this notice. I've searched for DJ, as we knew her at college, off and on for several years and I was stunned to see she has gone home. She was one of a cluster of 6 or 7 of us girls and we roomed next door and across the hall from each other during school. DJ was so full of humor, laughter, and love. From reading the tributes, DJ must have been a wonderful teacher, mentor, as she was a friend. I know she is missed but her memory is treasured.

Dorothy was such a wonder woman of God. I never saw her without a smile and kind word to share. As a mother of 3 of her prior students at Providence School; a substitute teacher; and sister in the Lord, I appreciated her counsel and encouragement. May God's abundant Grace continue to carry Dr. Weinman and their sons through this loss on this earth.

So sorry for your loss. Mrs Weiman was one of my teachers at FMCS. She was one of my favorite teachers. She always taught me to work hard and never give up. And today because of that I have my own Equestrian Farm teaching kids and adults alike. I will always appreciate her kind words.

I was a student of Mrs. Weinman at Ft. Myers Christian School. At the time, she was Miss Pemberton. I remember it was a fun time to know her. We students had fun watching the sparks begin to fly between Mr. Weinman and her. The wedding was amazing. The sweet little kiss on the hand will always be remembered! Then came the babies. We all prayed when one of the babies came early. So glad to be able to be part of her life then. Our class kept her laughing, for sure. She had a wonderful laugh. Even though I have not seen her for many years, I think of her often. I am very sad by the news of her passing. She cared about each of her students. My prayers will be for Mr. Weinman and their boys to continue to have God's comfort during the days to come. -Karen Willis Redmond

I was so saddened to receive this news just today, January 1, 2015. hiring Dorothy Pemberton was one of the good choices that I made as a school administrator. Marrying her and Paul was an absolute joy in my life. Dorothy was a fabulous teacher, very demanding and productive in the lives of her students, but truly loved by them. I am certain that I will see her someday, and convey our love and prayers to Paul for GOD's grace to continue daily and moment by moment provide strength, the joy of great memories, in the hope of eternity to sustain him in the days, months, and years to come, should our LORD tarry his return.

What an incredible loss the world has suffered with Mrs. Weinman's passing. I had the pleasure of having her as a teacher for 2 different years in high school and each one was a treat. She was one of those teachers who had the rare gift to be loved by both her students and the parents. My heart goes out to all of you who have had your lives touched by her over the years with special thoughts and prayers to her family and her recent/current students. No doubt in my mind she will be greatly missed.

How wonderfully you are remembered, Mrs. Weinman. Your light and joy that you shared with numerous students, despite whatever struggles occurred in our lives or in the world, will always be the one thing that I will remember you most for. The world has lost a great teacher, one who lived humbly the life and example of a Christ-follower, and I hope many more teachers come to follow your example. Thank you for your passion, and I hope you have been welcomed into heaven with open arms. You are terribly missed here on earth. -Angela Alimurung

Mrs. Weinman will be remembered as a caring, dedicated, loving teacher who enjoyed teaching and imparting knowledge. She enthusiastically gave to her students a love of history, now her good deeds live on through their life.  Rev. 14:13 “And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!' " "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them."

My heart hurts at the loss of Dorothy's passing. "Dot" as many of us old timers called this wonderful friend, will be so missed by us all. I will miss many of our mom to mom talks about our children, both of which were blessed to have been taught by her. She impacted so many lives with her love, her knowledge and her friendship. The angels are smiling now that she is home. Dot is smiling too. Bless and comfort to her children and to "Doc" her husband.

I love Mrs. Weinman so much. When I came to providence I hated history; I now love history and it's only because of Mrs. Weinman. After contemporary world my first year at Providence I took AP Euro my senior year (1) because Mrs. Weinman got me to love history and (2) because I just wanted to spend another year with Mrs. Weinman. Not only that, but she was such a good teacher! As a result of my two years with Mrs. Weinman I undertand the world around me so much better than I did before I knew Mrs. Weinman. But that's not why I love Mrs. Weinman. Mrs. Weinman wasn't just my teacher, she was a great friend, such a great friend. I love Mrs. Weinman because she loved us. Thank God for her. She was such a gift to my life. I will never ever forget Mrs. Weinman; I already miss her tremendously. And I'm so glad we can celebrate this day on account of her life and her savior, even if we do so with a heavy heart.

It was an honor and a pleasure to know Dorothy. She was kind, soft, gentle, loving and a very caring women and teacher. My boys, Thomas and Daniel loved Mrs. Wienman as a teacher and person. They would always talk about her with a smile and such endearment and would end with, She is so nice mom! I had the privilege to casually speak with her on several occasions and it was such a joy! She always talked to me about her boys and when she did she would light up with such love for her boys. We will continue to pray for comfort and peace for the family and what I know gives my family comfort is, that she is probably studying historical events with the FATHER! Love The Delahanty's

Are hearts are heavy as we will miss our cousin Dorothy Jane. Wonderful memories will carry us through as we remember her kindness and her love of family. Childhood trips to Ohio to visit Grandparents always included playing with our cousins,Dorothy Jane and Julie. We recently visited all those places in Ohio and were flooded with great memories. In later years, I enjoyed many conversations with her as we were both teachers. We are so grateful for the trips her family made to Indiana and Illinois so that we could visit with them.
May God grant peace and comfort to her family and know that we are thinking and praying for them.

Mrs. Weinman was everything I wanted to be as a teacher- she had this perfect balance of kindness and strictness, could laugh at herself, and knew how to show God's love to every one of her students. She was the sweetest person I've ever met and I honestly can't believe she's gone. She reached out to me when I was in 10th grade and felt alone with not many friends. She encouraged me to start back up a Bible study on Friday mornings (CIA) at Providence and it was through that that my friendships grew- solid friendships that I still have today. She mentored and advised me as I grew up and even later as a teacher. Words can't honestly express how much she meant to me growing up. I'd be a different person without her.
Thank you for all you did, Mrs. Weinman. The countless students you inspired, the lessons you taught that stretched far beyond historical facts, and the amazing woman that you were. I'm so glad I'll see you again in Heaven and hope you still have your infamous hair clip there too

To say that my heart is broken over this news would be an understatement.... Mrs. Weinman was that teacher that never gave up on you. She saw my potential way before I did and pushed me to achieve that potential. She fought on my behalf several times and I have never forgotten it. She was that beautifully perfect version of kindly blunt that could give you a wake up call while making you feel better about yourself. Mrs. Weinman was never afraid to call anyone out, but also never afraid to love each and every student. I'm not gonna lie, I always felt like one of her favorites but I'm sure many of us did. She had a way of making people feel so special AND teaching them history. Providence School of Jacksonville will never be the same with out her. I am so blessed to say that I had her as a teacher and, dare I say (considering the many hours I spent in her classroom laughing, learning, and sharing my heart w/ her during detentions), friend.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Dr. Weinman, Scott Weinman and Curtis.
RIP Dorothy Weinman... Your legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of hundreds of your students.
