I was just watching a movie today, and it reminding me of my years at Yi Bros...and of Master Luetke...so I did a Google search. I was saddened to see this as the first hit. He was such an inspiration to me while I was in his school. WHen I left to join the military, I never found another training program that had the level and mix of discipline, knowledge, and genuine caring as he had. I still tell my children of conversations I had with him, of times that he took the time to help me with my struggles...he was such much more than just an 'instructor'. I will always honor him and remember him fondly!

Salut, old friend. Miss your smile, miss our chats especially about the "old days" of our early martial arts training. 

You touched many lives. Rest well.

It's November already , another competition is behind us all , it was a tough one .. You were missing.
Your spirit was present , it always is .
You are not forgotten "Sir" every success or challenge, know you are there . Driving us to be all we can be .

I remember I wasn't having such a good day, I went into the office to talk to Master Luetke because I was early. He was watching a documentary on Mermaids. My eyes lit up when he told me all about how they are real and how I should look into them. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty weird at first. But now whenever I watch The Little Mermaid, it makes me think of him.

We miss you Master Luetke!! But the principles you stood for, the lessons you taught, the life you shared so generously with us all ... are now a part of us!! Thank you! It is an honor to be a part of that heritage and martial arts family!! We love you! God bless you and your sweet family!!!

Alfred Luetke was a great dad to my best friend. He was one of those rare individuals who you didn't have to be close to, to feel home, You could be yourself without feeling judged, unless you pulled up in a rusted honda civic..I didn't get to know him as much I wished BUT he didn't need to know your life story to be kind. And thats why the world will miss him, great men are always missed

Wow! So many memories, where do I start...he was my first master! The great times in korea (some crazy stories there) lol! He was more than my kwan jang nim...a great friend and father figure too. So many long talks I had with him about the arts and just life in general. He will be forever missed. So one more time from me...CHARRIOT! Kwan jang nim kay Gyun yi!

Alfred, be pleased about the great things you have done in your lifetime and the legacy you leave behind. You were an amazing person, father, and teacher. We will miss you and will watch over Kassidy with great love and care as we have always done...rest assured.

You never knew what or why or when he did what he did. Special moments of anxiety, tension or impatience. At the end of class he asked my son Paul to jump over 3 crouched companions and break a board. Success. He asks a fourth student to crouch. Again success. Great. Time to go home? No. Master asks a fifth to crouch. Parents were waiting to go home. Success. All of us were in that moment

Children learn by example. Thank you, Master Leutke, for your fine example of discipline, kindness and patience you showed our grandson, Jack. Once in awhile in life a child is fortunate to have a teacher that changes his life in a positive way forever. You did that for Jack and we will always be grateful.

Our heart-felt sympathies go out to Master Luetke's Family. Although we are very saddened by his loss, we feel so fortunate to have been welcomed into Master Luetke's Taekwondo Family. He was such an inspirational and patient instructor to our son, Gabriel (who always reserved the deepest bows for him). We can't think of Taekwondo without thinking of Master Luetke. Rest in Peace Friend

Master Leutke was my first master, I was thought by him when I first came here from Korea. He was always generous with words and his time.  Because of him I still practice and teach taekwondo, I will miss him dearly. After all these years I still call him SIR.i cannot call him anything else because of the utmost respect I have for him! And yes "breath in breath out"rest in peace SIR!

To all of Alfred's family, I send my thoughts and prayers. What an immense loss for you, and for all who knew and learned from Alfred. I met Alfred when he registered Kassidy for my ballet class when she was only 3 years old. From that day on, he constantly impressed me with his unwavering love and support for Kassidy and all of his children. I will miss him.

“I am so saddened for your loss. My only hope is that the Luetke children know what a special man they had in their father. I will miss the calm demeanor, discipline, encouragement and humor that he offered to my son Jack. His wisdom, love and respect for TKD and the kids will stay with Jack and our family forever. May he rest in peace. And may his children carry on his tenderness."

He will always be remembered. Our family learned a lot from him and still carry his lessons in our daily lives. Mandy and Morgan were shaped by him..be it taking his classes or teaching them. It has been a long time since we have seen Master Luetke but he will always be remembered. Thanks for your life lessons..Doug and Sue Bryan

Thank you Master Leutke for all the help you gave me in Tae Kwon Do. I really love Tae Kwon Do because you taught me so well. I love the notes that you gave me and they are very thoughtful. You inspired me to keep going to black but I have a long ways to go. I don't care how long it will take. I will miss you :(

I met Master Luetke about 15 years ago when my twin boys and their sister were still in grade school. A teacher told me that it would help their self esteem to learn martial arts, I went home that night and looked in the phone book and one place just called to me I don't remember the add but I knew it was about more than self defense it was a family boy was I rite I will miss him dearly.

Right thoughts produce right actions and right actions produce work which will be a material reflection for others to see of the serenity at the center of it all.” --Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.             Master Luetke will be greatly missed by our family, and forever is our hearts.

Master Luetke, I will forever be thankful in how you established a love for tkd in Victoria. I love the spirit you always brought to the studio and yet the challenge you would present to your students. Whenever I see altoids I think of you! You created an environment of family in the studio and we will miss that.

Master Luetke, you were my teacher, my mentor and my friend. You taught respect and honor to many young men and women, and when those of us who look back on your life to "review your progress and renew your goals", we know that if the measure of a man is the positive influence he had on the lives of those he touched, you could not have known greater success. Rest well, my friend.

There are a lot of things I will miss about Master Leutke. The biggest thing I think will be his daily hugs. Every time I saw him it was not just a respectful bow, but also the sweetest hug. I loved him, and I know he loved me too, Always encouraging me to keep going even when I wasn't sure if this "martial arts thing" was for me or not. I will miss him deeply.

Thank you Master Luetke for teaching me in Taekwondo. I will always remember when you would knock on my head and say "knock on wood." I will also always remember that you taught me "head, hip, heel." Master Luetke was the reason that I started Taekwondo. I will miss him.

At a time when life was turned upside down for my son and I, Alfred opened his door to martial arts. My son was only 5, when Alfred handed him his Gee and said see you Wednesday he was elated. He made it to almost every practice and climbed the belt colors. As he did he learned about life, respect, commitment, and discipline. Thank you Alfred for being there to help mold a fine, respectful, man

I remember the first time i meet Al i was sitting out side the dry cleaners next door to the old karote school in renton and he could tell i was having a hard time . He said to me i was lost i said no i live right down the road . He laught said no lost sole . I didnt know he has the owner of the karote school next door . He was right i was having tough times he was a kind man r.i.p

Master Luetke always knew how to cheer people up, he always had a series of memorable jokes. Or he would open his arms and give you a hug. He will be and already is missed by many. Master Luetke was the first person who wasn't a blood relative to say I could make it through marshal arts. Last night I saw one star in the whole sky. People may think I'm crazy but it made me think of him.

Your "Gentle strength" is what I'll miss the most .Your dedication to us all will never be forgotten.Although our hearts are breaking,we will continue as you taught us, with fighting spirit ,knowing that anything is possible as long as we believe in ourselves .We honor your beautiful spirit Master.Until we meet again ."The Utinske's"
