Allen Dean Crouch, 85, died peacefully at Consulate Health Care in Port Charlotte, Florida, on April 12 after a long illness.

Born on December 24, 1929, in Freeport, Pennsylvania, Allen was raised in Youngstown, Ohio, and was a graduate of Youngstown College. He was a longtime resident of Cincinnati and Punta Gorda, Florida, before settling in Port Charlotte. He worked for 23 years as a sales representative for Fieldcrest Mills and later retired from the John Kenney Company.

A talented baseball player in his youth, Allen was a lifelong avid New York Yankees fan (with apologies to his daughter Jill and the Boston Red Sox).
Allen is survived by his wife of 13 years, Marilyn Miller of Port Charlotte and Towson, Maryland; his daughters, Jill Crouch of Boston and Jennifer Kenney of Miami; and his son-in-law, John Kenney, and granddaughter, Molly Jean Kenney, both of Miami. He also leaves behind Marilyn’s extended family, including her daughter Laurie Hemphill, of Cockeysville, Maryland; her daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Rick Armstrong, of Towson; and several grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his first wife of 49 years, Jean Crouch.

Allen was fortunate to have had many good friends. His daughters would like to give special acknowledgement to Pam and Charlie Danner, Ron Kagan, Jack Callahan, and his wonderful nurse Judy McCullough and her team from Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, including Alexandra, Betsy, and Martha. Heartfelt thanks also to his favorite nurses and aides at Consulate Port Charlotte and to Bill, Jim, Larry, Sharon, and the other neighbors and volunteers who spent time with him during his final year. If we have missed anyone, know that we are grateful for your kindness.
