Allen was an usher in our wedding 50 years ago. We remember his guided canoe trips through the canals of Naples during our Christmas gatherings in Naples. Peace be with you, Allen. John and DeeDee Stevens
My thoughts and prayers are with the McElwain family during this time of sadness. I have many fond childhood memories of Allen--mostly in Naples, Florida. May you all find peace and joy in the memories that you cherish of Allen. With love, Jennie Stevens-Bried
I attended Garfield grade school, junior high school and high school with Allen. I remember attending cub scout meetings with him at his home, hosted by his family. Allen and I attended a church sale across the street from Garfield and I bought a blank gun for $ .25 cents. Later, on our bikes we got into an argument over the ownership which ended up in my and his first fist fight. Nobody won.
We both rode home crying, but forgot about it and remained friends. I talked to our mutual friend and classmate John Laslo, and he recalled that when we played Pom Pom Pull Away, Allen always won because he was fast and agile. Great memories of a good long time friend. Don Hannah Paradise Valley Arizona
