I didn't learn that my friend, Anda, had left us until today. She was one of my professors at KSU. She meant a lot to me.
Back around 2010, a few of us students became serious about pursuing careers as actuaries. We wanted to learn more actuarial mathematics while at KSU, but we didn't see a course listed that would accomplish that goal. After asking around, we learned that if we asked Dr. Gadidov with a "pretty please", she might teach a directed study course in probability (1st actuarial exam), so we did. Of course she decided to help us because she was so kind. During that semester, we learned probability theory from one of the absolute best. As we all know, Dr. Gadidov was absolutely brilliant.
A few years later, after her great instruction paid off in my life, she asked me to come back to KSU and be one of the speakers on "career night". I was very grateful to give back, so I did.
What's the moral of all of this? It's that Anda Gadidov devoted her life to helping others and pursuing her love of mathematics. These are things to be proud of and look up to. I am lucky to have had Anda in my life. I miss her and I will always look back on my memories of her fondly.
