Andre’s Biography

Andre Niba Ngwa Nforbi was born on June 12th, 1985 at Mount Mary Maternity in Buea, South West Province, Cameroon. He was the fifth child but second son of Alexander Brendan Ngwa Nforbi and Mary Bi Sama Ngwa Nforbi. It had been seven years since the Ngwa Nforbi household had a new baby and Andre’s arrival brought immense joy not only to his immediate family but to the entire Ngwa-Niba Batchia and Sama families at large. Andre was named after Brother Andre Bessett now Saint Andre, a friar of the order of Holy Cross, whose life and participation in the building of a world-renowned Basilica in honor of Saint Joseph in Montreal, Canada, gained the admiration of his father. His middle name, Niba, was after his father’s beloved and only brother George Niba.

Andre attended Primary School at PNEU Yaounde at the completion of which he ranked first place in the entire country that year in the Common Entrance Examination. He then sought and gained admission into the Bishop Rogan Minor Seminary in 1995 where he obtained a secondary school education and obtained the General Certificate of Education (GCE) – Ordinary Level. In the year 2000, Andre got into Saint Bede’s College for his High School Education and obtained the GCE – Advanced Level in 2002. Andre then immigrated to the United States and began his college studies at St Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA in January of 2003 where he majored in Biology. He later transferred to the Community College of Baltimore County where he completed his prerequisites for admission into the pharmacy program in 2005. Andre received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at the University of Maryland in May 2009 and in July of that same year began his career as a pharmacist at Bon Secours Hospital through Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, where he worked until his passing. Andre worked in many capacities at Bon Secours including clinical pharmacist, assistant pharmacy manager, preceptor, Pyxis specialist and anticoagulation pharmacist at the Coumadin clinic.  Andre was a member of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists. He also belonged to the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.

At the time of his death, Andre was in the process of obtaining an MBA at the University of Baltimore/Towson University Merrick School of Business, a project which he carried out on a part time basis given his multiple other responsibilities. He also was involved some business ventures and was an astute investor.

Andre did not have children of his own but he lavished his love and attention, advice and guidance on his nieces and nephews. They were always very pleased to see him and he served as a good role model in many ways for them.

Andre died in a single vehicle accident on June 28th 2015 on the highway near Laurel, MD, shortly after turning thirty years of age. It is believed that stormy conditions on that day had led his car to hydroplane resulting in his loss of control of the vehicle. The vehicle hit an embankment and overturned four times during which he incurred multiple injuries leading to his death.

Andre is survived by a large family who love and treasure him immensely: his mother, Mary Bi Sama Ngwa Nforbi; his three sisters Njuibi, Lum and Ngumfor; his two brothers Jacob and Joseph; his nieces Mariah and Marie; his nephews Brendan, Great, Alexander, Joel, Enoch and David and all the members of the entire Ngwa-Niba Batchia and Sama families. He is also survived by many friends and co-workers who loved and respected him.

Andre will be lovingly remembered for his charming smile that warmed the hearts of many whom he encountered, his humility, gentleness, brightness, and strong sense of responsibility; but above all, his deep love for and dedication to his family members whom he nurtured in many ways. It is this love for family and strong sense of responsibility that influenced the choice of Andre as his father’s successor.

Regardless of our absolute devastation, we as Christians, hope in the promise of God’s Salvation; for a better life in Heaven where there shall be neither weeping nor grief, no pain or sorrow, and no sadness but joy.

We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love, concern, comfort, sympathy, prayers and support that you, our many friends, well-wishers and family, have lavished on us at this time of great sorrow. You have shared and are still sharing in our burden, making it lighter to bear.

Thank you.

Njuibi Miyanwi Nforbi Njiomouo on behalf of the entire family.
