Andy's antics

August 6, 2021
One Summer in 2007 or 2008 Andy was working nights as a security guard for Securitas in Manteca.  We shared an apartment at the time. I had a six pack of Rolling Rock glass, twist off bottles of beer in the fridge.  When I got back from a long day of work I was really looking forward to having one of those beers.  I opened one and it was easier than usual to open.  It didn't make the usual sound of a fresh beer opening.  I took a drink anyway and quickly realized that I was drinking nothing but water!  I thought maybe it was a bottling error.  I opened another one.  It was also water.  Then the next one.  Again, water.  They were ALL water!  I can't remember if it was a full six pack but there were at least 4 left.  It was Andy!  Not only did he drink all of my beers, he then proceeded to fill them back up with water, carefully screw the lids back on, then planted them back in the fridge for me to discover.  I couldn't help but laugh even though I was so annoyed at the same time.  I had to wait a few hours to confront him because he was sleeping before work.  When I finally did he was very pleased with himself.  *Insert Andy's mischievous laugh and grin*  His plan was to make it funny so I wouldn't be as mad at him.  It worked of course.  He knew it would!

Election Day

November 3, 2020
Thank you Monique for sharing your voting story.  It brought a smile and some tears.  Election Day was always a mother/son thing for Andy and I since he was 18 years old.  We would individually do our ballots but he always was up for a good debate like why I should join the Green Party.  With our completed ballots in hand, mother and son would walk across the street to Brock Elliott School to cast our votes.  2020 has brought so many changes for everyone.  Casting my vote alone at a drop box was not the same but Andy will always be in my thoughts and heart every election.

Spanish voting sticker

November 2, 2020
On November 2nd, 2004 Andy was 19.  He came to my house after each of us had wrecklessly cast our votes.  He noticed my 'I voted' sticker on my shirt.  He told me that his said something different like, "Yeah vote or Yay vote!"  I looked at him confused then asked to see his sticker.  It read, 'Ya voté' which is Spanish for 'I voted'.  When I told him we both started laughing and every few minutes he would quote his sticker in his best Spanish accent and laughter would immediately follow.

Andy made this LEGO creation for me many, many years ago.  He was so clever and thoughtful.

Preschool story from Greene Family

August 25, 2020
Received a sympathy card from the Greene Family.  They have been connected to us since our children’s preschool years, then living a few doors downfrom one another during raising children years to now living in same “retirement community”.  Our children grew up together.  This is the story Kathy Greene shared in her card, thank you Kathy: “I will always remember Andy in the Humpty Dumpty Toddler program.  He and Jeff would routinely stand by the pencil sharpener, trying to claim their authority over the ‘machine’. One of our favorite HD stories.”

The Meseke Family

August 11, 2020
The Taylors have such great memories of you all from camping , trip to Vegas, Charlie and Andrew sumo wrestling in Vegas, late night cards with all the kids sleeping on each other’s couches, wine tasting and swimming. For some reason the first memory of Andy that pops in my head is when you guys put in your pool and Andy had fell in without the water in and broke his leg (I think, maybe his arm) and couldn’t go swimming when the pool was up and running. I remember feeling so bad for him because he was so excited for the pool. I’ll never forget the smile on his face when he would open the door for us when we came over. Andy was always so happy And enjoyable to be around. Andy, you will be missed..

A true friend

August 9, 2020
You will always be one of the people I call a true friend. We spent many summers as kids doing god knows what and hoping our parents never found out. I will hold on to those days fondly. While we may have drifted down different paths every time we saw each other we picked right back up like it was just yesterday we saw each other. Our friendship spans decades. From elementary school “dance” parties to high school antics. You will always be everyone’s best friend. You will be missed. The world lost a little bit of light that day but heaven shines brighter. See you on the flip side.
