I was saddened to hear of Granny's passing but was happy to learn that all of granny's children and grandchildren were able to spend her last days at her side. While I had only a few days to get to know her, I can say that my round trip train adventure with her a few years ago to Charleston would have made a very compelling commercial for Amtrak. Granny enjoyed life and it was contagious! She relished all the goodies we packed for snacks for our trip and couldn't wait to hear what the food car had to offer at meal times. When Captain Morgan came out of my snack bag to join our cokes at cocktail time, she relished our sneaky secret. We got to giggling at some point and nearby passengers joined in the revelry. She never complained during the lengthy journey and time flew by in her delightful company. Andy was grateful Granny had a traveling companion on her long journey, but truly I was the lucky one! Getting to know her was a treat.
My sincere condolences on the loss of your mom, Andy. She made such an amazing impression on me over just two days, so I can imagine what a treasure she has been for you and all of your family during her lifetime.Janine, I know you will miss her sense of humor and wonderful advice. You were lucky to have such a terrific mother-in-law. Laura and Gary, hugs to you at this diffcult time. I hope that the sorrow you are feeling now is soon replaced by wonderful memories of this very special lady.
