Annelies Marie "Anne" Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. She lived in Amsterdam with her family during World War II. Escaping from Jew oppresion, they went into hiding for two years. As those two years went by, she wrote in her diary that she got for her 13th birthday about her experiences, feelings, and wishes. When she was 15, she and her family were found by the troops who sent them to camps to work and died there. Her diary was published into The Diary of Anne Frank and has gone on to be read by millions.
