FBI Director Louis Freeh’s international trips were legendary for their long days and tightly packed schedules, including working breakfasts, lunches and dinners. In the mid-90’s Director Freeh visited London and was offered a “Tony Tour” of the Houses of Parliament. The Director accepted, but stipulated that the tour had to be after the workday. So, Tony agreed to do the tour at 10 PM.
Predictably dinner with the London Police Officials ran late, and the Director and his entourage didn’t arrive at Parliament till well after the appointed time. Tony was standing by and provided the full tour including a climb up Victoria Tower to view the British copy of the US Declaration of Independence. The tour concluded well after midnight.
Tony always enjoyed telling that story, but it just goes to show how willing Tony was to do things for his friends, not matter the hour.
Tony, thanks for all the good times.
