Early Years of Life

Tony was born on November 28, 1959 to Mr. Anthony King Donkor and Madam Teresa Anwhire Afuakosi in Sefwi Boako in the Western Region of Ghana. He was the only son of his parents. Unlike many Ghanaian children born alone to their parents who are pampered and become swollen headed, Tony from infancy was resolute and focused in life. He attended Sefwi Boako Middle School and then Asuansi Technical Institute where he obtained his secondary education. Tony's enterprising and brave survival nature was cultivated in primary boarding school and cemented in secondary school which earned his admission to Tarkwa School of Mines (University of Mines and Technology) where he obtained his certificate in welding technology.

Life in Montreal, Canada
Tony migrated to Montreal in 1986 to pursue his dreams as a welder. Leaving his young family in Ghana, in order to create a better life for them with plans to bringing them to Canada in the not so distant future.

Life in Vancouver, Canada

Tony moved to Vancouver Canada in 93' bringing his family of just Gloria and Isaac at the time to join him in Canada. Not too long after Joshua arrived on the scene, and last but certainly not least Pharez was born, completing the Baidoo family.

Church Life
Elder Tony became born again way back in 1977. He maintained his faith whilst in Ghana and fellowshipped with many brethren in the Scripture Union as well as the Church of Pentecost. In 1993, whilst in Montreal, Tony had a dream with God telling him to move to Vancouver to expand His church. He did so, and in July 1993 moved to Vancouver where he attended the Apostolic Faith Church in the mornings and Calvary Worship Center, led by Pastor Sam Owusu, on Sunday evenings. On his way to church, he would pick up sisters Esther Ayisi and Victoria Mensa. Tony was also hosting an evening prayer meeting at his house, and when he learned through another group that Elder Kuanao had arrived from Ghana, he invited him to join the small home gathering which included his family and sisters Esther and Victoria. The gathering began to attract attention and grew to include 15 people, prompting a move to a bigger space in a building known as Carpenter’s Hall. The church continued to attract more members and went through another move, this time to a rented space in New Westminster with the addition of Daniel Ayikwei and family as members. A further move to the basement of a New Westminster Methodist church brought Brother David Franny as a new member, as well as a visit from Apostle Bonsu of Toronto, who purchased a set of instruments for the church in their new home. By God’s grace and provision, the church continued to grow so they moved to Gateway Baptist Church premises. The Gateway church was founded by brother Stanley Anaman and the Lord blessed them with more additions. Brother Daniel Entiam and family, Elder Anthony Owusu from Montreal, Justina and Jonas Sey, etc. also joined the church. At this time, Tony suffered a severe traumatic accident to both his legs, which forced him to stay home for over a year. When he recovered, the church had moved to The People's Church basement where they were joined by Elder Asman from Toronto, with Elder Kuanao, appointed from Toronto, to be in charge of the church. Later, Pastor Emmanuel Owusu was sent from Toronto to Pastor the church in Vancouver. Tony was a member of Pastor Owusu's administration along with Apostle Ackaah Baidoo and helped the Vancouver church to buy a Mission House. Elders Anthony Owusu, Frimpong and Arbuah joined as part of the administration to help in the vineyard of the lord, and with the help of other members of the fold, the ministry was able to purchase a building for its members to meet and worship. Pastor Anthony Owusu was subsequently transferred to France leaving the church in Vancouver without a pastor for a while until Pastor Lawrence Manu was transferred from Toronto and stayed for about 4 years until he was sent to Ontario. Tony also served as an Elder in the administration of Pastors Engmann, Gyamera and Acheampong who all served as head Pastors over the years. Pastor Joseph Fynn-Sackey was brought to join the church as head Pastor and he appointed Tony to be in charge of the Akan session of the ministry.
