Thinking about you today, Dad. Hard to believe it’s been three years already! I miss you, think about you often, and love you.

Sorry to be posting so late and I sincerely hope it is welcome and not upsetting. I knew your dad and mom a long, long time ago when he and I both worked for Martin Marietta. It was not a time when either African Americans or women held many executive positions but times have blessedly changed. He was a very kind and steady presence and I valued the friendship of him and your mother. I thought of them this evening for two reasons. First I remembered they were from Philadelphia and the Eagles are doing much better than I would prefer as I now live in Dallas.
But more importantly, I got married very late (doing the dedicated corporate executive thing) when I was working with you dad and your parents sent us a lovely wedding present as they had been invited to our wedding. Every time I use the wonderful Calphalon chef's pan they generously sent, I think of your mom and dad and tonight for the first time I searched to see if they were still with us and discovered, sadly, that they had both passed away. I am very sorry for your loss. Wonderful, warm incredible people!

Rest in peace Arnold and Myrtle. I cannot imagine you apart. It was a blessing to have seen your love in my life. Your memories will live in my heart always.

Arnold was a very good colleague at the Sloan School of Massachusetts Institute. We had a nice time working together.

I did not have the pleasure of getting to know Mr. Roane personally, but based on the love and devotion his daughters had for him, he surely had to be an exceptional person. Rest In Peace.

Arnold was a very valuable member of Holy Redeemer Episcopal Church for many years, helping us through some very difficult times. We were very sorry when he and Myrtle left. I will always remember his laugh. Rest in heaven in light perpetual

Arnold's sense of humor kept both of us sane. We shared made-up funny stories when we worked for the same company and saw each other at the same location. The signal was "How are things going?"

I spent many hours at the Roane home in Waynesboro, Virginia while in high school. Their home remained a supportive place over the years. Mr. Roane (not Arnold to me) was so very smart and dignified, and he treated me with respect not usually given a teenager. I thank him for his exemplary character and, together with Mrs. Roane, for raising my friends Arlene and Shelly to be persons I have treasured throughout my life. God bless, Mr. Roane.

Arnold was a wonderful and compassionate man. When I would come to see Myrtle he always made me feel welcomed. And he was very bright but never made me feel he was talking down to me. He will be greatly missed.

Arnold was such a kind-hearted man. When we held bridge club during bad weather, he would take me, along with Myrtle, and bring us home to make sure we were safe. In his later years, when his memory was fading, I would pick up Myrtle and take her to bridge. He aways wanted me to promise that I would take care of her and bring her home safely. He was dedicated to Myrtle, the love of his life.

I always knew that when the Saturday Afternoon Bridge Club of Lakewood covened at Myrtle’s that we would enjoy the wonderfully generous hospitality of our dear friend Myrtle, but also the kind ministrations of Arnold. During harsh Colorado winters, he’d make sure the walks were cleaned, our cars started up and we were always well cared for. I miss them both deeply, what a loss to us all!!!

Arnold and Arlene were always so nice to me. I was touched when they brought me a gift back from one of their vacations. I enjoyed working with Arnold on the vestry when he was the Senior Warden. He will be missed. Let light perpetual shine upon him.

What an amazing example and trailblazer for me and others in our family coming along right behind my cousin Leo (Arnold). Thank you so very much for showing us the way and setting that bar. Miss you, love you! Forever….

Arnold was one of the first to welcome us to Holy Redeemer Episcopal Church when we first arrived in Colorado. The act of kindness seemed so small, yet it meant the world to us, as we knew no one and had moved just a few weeks before. We are praying for you and your family and pray the wonderful memories of your parents will sustain you during this difficult time.
