Remembering Our Days In The Sun

November 4, 2016

Mom,
If I could have those days in the sun with you again, what I wouldn't give. I watched your skin turn the most beautiful brown as the hours slipped away, as we chatted away enjoying those unforgettable days at the beach and around the pool. You were my friend, my heart and soul, my dear sweet mother that I carry with me in spirit and now when I drive. With Love from your DDD

Happy Birthday Mom

December 7, 2014

We want to thank you for the
       little things
    that you so often do,
And for the special loveliness
that's such a part of you..
To tell you that you're loved
    much more
then words
         could say...

It's a special kind of love we share
      today and everyday.

With Love Always,

       Jolene and Steven
               &
Robert, Cathy, Nicole, Shawna and Joey

Birthday Toast

July 30, 2014

Jolene,

This is a little toast I would love to make as we share this special celebration.

On June 6, 1944 the Allied Forces landed on the beaches of Normandy now remembered as D-Day.

Eleven years later on June 6, 1955 I had my own D-Day (Delivery Day.) A tiny baby girl landed and captured my heart and will always remain there.

And now forty years later we are truly blessed to be able to celebrate together that day of birth.

How we met

July 12, 2014

Russ and I met at Reseda Bowl back in 1982 and are together now because of Aunt Bobbie. I was on a team with my friends from my work and Russ was on a team with his dad (Stan) and Aunt Bobbie.  I had my eye on Russ and I think he had his eye on me. But we never did anything about it, until one night......
We were bowling next to each other and Aunt Bobbie drank my Vodka Collins. We drank the same drink :).  Anyway, I asked Russ, I think that lady on your team drank my drink.   He confirmed with her and went and bought me another.  The next bowling season, I was on their team (Stan, Bobbie, Russ and myself).  It was history after that.  I enjoyed bowling with her and enjoyed every family event. She was the life of the party.   She will always be remembered.

Love you and miss you always Aunt Bobbie.

To My Favorite Mother In-Law,

I’ve known Bobbie and the Shaw family for over 37 years. I have never met anyone as caring, thoughtful and generous as she was.

There were times that she would call me at work and she’d say, “This is your favorite mother in law.” I always got a kick out of that.

I always enjoyed working on her ’64.

I think of her daily and I will miss her for the rest of my life.

I love her dearly,
God Bless You,
Your Favorite Son In Law

I have a lot of wonderful memories of Aunt Bobbie. Growing up I never knew she wasn’t my direct aunt. Everyone always called her Aunt Bobbie. That’s the way she was. She was Aunt Bobbie to everyone. And everyone loved her for it. I can remember many great times with her. What I can’t remember is ever seeing her without a smile because I am not sure she knew how not to smile. Her smile, her love, her personality was contagious. She just had an outlook and an attitude on life you rarely see these days. She loved everyone.

Anyone who knew Bobbie knew she was a highly emotional woman. I have never seen someone cry “happy” tears as much as her. If you hadn’t seen her in a while she would hug you so tight and just start crying. I can’t remember a time, as a kid or an adult, I didn’t get a hug without a tear or two from her. She sure knew how to make someone feel special.

Aunt Bobbie and I shared something great that I will forever cherish. We shared our passion in the Los Angeles Dodgers. I would talk to her about the current team and she would share her memories of all the past years she watched and followed the Dodgers. It was amazing for me to hear from her voice the same history that I had only read about. She was a true fan. Her passion for the Dodgers was not much different than her passion for life in general. With every baseball season that goes by, I will sit down on opening day, make a margarita, and think of her and smile.

On March 22, 2014 at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Steve and I were able to grant you your greatest wish; to be reunited with our father, the man you loved so unconditionally.

Now that you have been reunited here on earth, we hope you find each other in heaven, "For nothing loved is ever lost."

On Mother's Day

To My Loving Mother on Mother's Day

You said many times, "We don't need to do anything special on Mother's Day; everyday feels like Mother's Day because I know you love me."

So today and every day, I will continue to love you and honor you, to bring you flowers and never let you be forgotten.

A Celebration of Love and Life

April 11, 2014

        Bobbie and Joe
        Las Vegas August 1954

This picture means so much me; seeing my parents together and happy, knowing that they brought me into the world just nine months later.

Today, April 11th celebrates the anniversary of their wedding day sixty one years ago; a day that she held very                        close to her heart.

Went to Santa Anita Race Track with Bobbie,
Dad and Kelli.  We had a great time.
Bobbie shared sooo many old stories with Kelli.
Working at the movie theatre with she was 16
and touched Clark Gables hand when
she handed him his tickets....
how she and Joe got together, how Grandma
Ethel loved to dance, all the trouble Julie and
Bobbie got into...on and on,
but one of her quotes that day
I wrote down so I wouldn't forget was.

"If, if's and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas"

Love you sooo much Aunt Bobbie, so many good memories!
