It's been almost four years since Mom slipped away from us, but the influence of her life continues with me everyday. Objects around our house remind me of her caring stewardship of "things" from the past that were always attached to people and the stories that she would tell of them. Memories of her dedication, smile and creativity visit my mind throughout my days. She is "Forever Missed" and "Forever Present".

For is with all of us and all of my mother's sister !

I have such fond memories of Betty during my days of managing and booking bands in the Muncie area. She was such a delightful lady who really was interested in all the young musicians playing rock music at that time. I remember the Cave really well. It was important to her to have another venue for kids to be able to hear these bands perform.  She touched my life in a very positive way

Having moved to Muncie in 2008, I've only known this most interesting of women the last few years. We met at High St. Thursday luncheons and soon discovered our mutual interest in writing. Plus, I lived in Wentzville, MO, for a while and knew where Troy was! I missed getting to see her as "Diamond Heels Hattie." Maybe she'll repeat it for me in heaven. :)  Love you, Dear.

I was honored to celebrate Betty's life today. Many 1960s, Muncie teens still play music today because of Betty's belief in them. She interviewed everyone from The Beatles to Jimi Hendrix to Alice Cooper. With Betty, there was no Generation Gap. I was especially honored to interview Betty for my book, "The Heyday of Muncie, Indiana." It would be her final interview.  I adored her!

Betty came into my life as a step-mother. My siblings and I loved her like a mother.I am forever grateful that she and my dad had several good years together. I was always so impressed that Betty has a degree in journalism, married, had children worked, and was still able to be there for her children.Nevermind the fact that she worked and got two masters degrees from BSU.

I first remember Betty as a nice mom at her daughter's dance class...then I was lucky enough to meet her again while I was working at the Muncie Newspaper office. Betty was such a lovely and gracious woman. Im sure everyone that met her is thinking of her fondly.

I can't think of anyone who had a more positive and lasting effect on local musicians. By being so supportive of our efforts, she instilled us with a belief in ourselves and our music that we carry on to this day. Thank you Betty - you were very special to more people than you could imagine because you made each and every one of us feel so special. You will live on forever in our hearts! Adieu

I grew up playing music in Muncie during the 60's. Betty was an inspiration to anyone that ever played a note in that town. She was an adult that took an interest in the struggles we faced as young players. Words can never express what she represented to us in the day. May we pass it on.

I met Betty in the Muncie Branch of the National League of American Pen Women. She was extremely friendly and interested in promoting our organization. At one meeting she proudly read one of her creations. Her list of honors mentioned in The Muncie Star Press was quite impressive and showed her energetic spirit and willingness to meet and work with all kinds of people.

As a young musician in the 60s and 70s, being in where the band's are was our version of being on the ed Sullivan show.

I smile broadly as I view the pictures of the wonderful lady I always thought of with a smile. When I would see her out in various places over the years she always had the same wonderful smile and eyes that just sparkled with life.
I so remember how kind she was to me when I was in Jobs Daughters. I will miss u

I met Betty when I was a teenager at High Street. She was an adult that kids could approach for help and advice. I was one of those kids. I think she just loved kids (her own and those she touched). I am pretty sure she knew that love was returned. May the Lord bless her family in that love.

Betty was a friend and mentor to me during the late 60s & early 70s. Always willing to listen to my teenaged troubles & offering sound advice. I was part of the group that worked with her to establish The Cave and I have many fond memories of those times. Though I saw little of her in later life, she remains dear to me & will forever be my friend.

My earliest memory of Betty, is at the kitchen in the vivenda, getting snacks or food ready for the constant stream of young people who visited the house. "Fecha porta! Where you born in a barn?" became the catch phrase. Since then I have had the privilege of hanging out with Betty in different settings and places. Her energy, her faith, her beauty were clear for all to see. Saudades! xxx

I am grateful for my grandmother's remarkable life, for the stories she lived and told, those she wrote and photographed. I'm grateful for the 22 St Patrick's Days she outlived my grandfather, graduations and weddings she attended, great-grandchildren she saw born. I'm grateful for the last three days I got to sit by her and hold her hand. My heart is broken and full at the same time.

I too had the privilege of meeting Betty on several occasions – being one of the young people circulating in and out of the famous kitchen. Latest when she and John kindly welcomed me in their home for a few days. A woman of valor and excellence! May Betty rest in peace.
