Although we moved from Norwich in 1975, Betty Van Horn played a very important part of our life as a young family. I also loved working with Betty and Lois Peeler as they created a Sunday School curriculum. Betty always had a plate of cookies at the ready whenever you visited!
Her smile and positive helping hand will not be forgotten.

When I think of Aunt Betty I think of smiles and fun, the Norwich fair and parade, flashlight tag and kickball with Ruth and Dave, singing songs around the organ and cool christmas presents from Grandpas' Barn in Thetford I think, and of course ice cream and world renowned choc chip cookies. Rock on Aunt Betty! Heaven is a much happier place with you there. Peace to all the Van Horns.

Betty was always cheerful and put the needs of others first. She loved children and enjoyed teaching kindergarten and giving piano lessons. She will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. To Ruth and David, please accept our deepest sympathy.

To me Betty was not only a woman full of hapiness, grace and excitement but had an extraordinary amount of drive to live life to its fullest. She always made me feel as if there was'nt anything I couldn't do and she made my life enjoyable. She has definately left footprints in my sand and I am blessed to have had her in my life as well as Jack, Ruth and David May she rest in peace!

What a joyous celebration of Betty's life! Thank you David, Nanette, Ruth and Abby. The fruits of your Mom's love, talents, faith and character were shown in your loving care of her when she most needed it. As a dear friend of Betty's I am most grateful to you.

Betty offered her home, her laugh, her music, and her love everyday, all the time, to so many young people in Norwich, myself included. To be with Betty was to feel welcome, loved, and happy. The world is a more beautiful place for her presence in it.

Hi Ruth and David. I so much enjoyed playing bridge with your Mom in our "girl's" bridge group so many years ago. What fun we had! And it was always nice to meet at Dan & Whit's over the years for a chat. Sorry that I am away and unable to attend her celebration tomorrow in Norwich. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Betty was a great younger sister who deserves many thanks for her unconditional love thru growing up, college pranks, and family get togethers on Long Island, in Norwich, and at the Lake. Peace, my sister.

Betty was a sweet soul. She shared her love for God with me and we rejoiced together knowing we would see each other at the Return of our Lord Jesus Christ. I was able to spend a day with Betty. She cherished life and loved being with her wonderful family. I thank God for having met her and for her contribution to this world.

Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. Her generosity was only exceeded by her kindness. She was gentle in all her ways, had a ready wit and a smile, easy to be with and easy to love. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. But this is not the end..."In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye...the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Mom was a great example of love, kindness and gentleness. She was always willing to laugh and make you feel good. She gave of her time and talents in so many different ways and to many different people. It's amazing looking back just how many people she helped by doing what she loved. Her Reward is waiting. "...thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.."
