Mr. Aikens was born in Langdale, Alabama March 9, 1933 to the late Hooper Aikens and the late Eston Yarbrough Aikens. He wa a member of the Happy Valley Baptist Church, and was retired from West Point Pepperell as the supply room supervisor. He also retired from grass cutting at the Valley housing authority and Happy Valley Baptist Church. He served in the US Army and the Army Reserves.He was an avid golfer and Tuesday March 28, 2017 would have been their 59th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife Lois Roberts Aikens of Lanett, Al., 2 children Dwayne (Gaye) Aikens of Fredonia,Al., Loretta (Steve) Smith of Huguley,Al., 3 sisters Emma (Joe) Blanks of Wadley. Al.,Ruth (Frankie) Davis of LaFayette, Al., Faye (Tommy) Blackmon of Wadley,Al., 2 brothers Frank Aikens of Valley,Al.,  Rev. Floyd (Floy) Aikens of Lanett, Al., 3 grandchildren Tina (Corey) Vial, Jessica (Bill) Cannon , Jedediah (Chandler) Smith., 4 great grandchildren Aiden & Helena Vial, Karmin Smith and one on the way Kensleigh Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents Hooper Aikens, Eston Yarbrough Aikens and Eunice Aikens, 5 brothers & sisters Dovard Aikens, Lonida Brooks, Cleave Aikens, Lorene Milner and his twin Annie Jean Aikens.
