Pashta MaryMoon is the co-founder and executive director of the 15-year old non-profit CINDEA — an acronym for Canadian Integrative Network for Death Education and Alternatives (cindea.ca); and the elder teacher for “By My Own Heart and Hand” — a comprehensive post-deathcare training program including home funerals (caring for one’s own dead at home), paperwork and laws, greening death, deathing rites, children and death, and the community of grieving. Journeying Beyond is hir personal service (beyonds.ca) for deathing support. ZIe offers and teaches Bedside Singing — yet another element of deathing support, although zie has also used it with birthing mothers; and is also a singer/songwriter. Zie has also been a birth coach. Pashta has worked with deathing (pre-and-post death) for 40 years — individually, in hospice, and hospital spiritual care. Zie is a long-time Quaker and Wiccan priestess, and served as Pagan clergy for federal prisons across Canada.
