“He Is Not Dead"

I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
He has wandered into an unknown land
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.
And you—oh you, who the wildest yearn
For an old-time step, and the glad return,
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here.
Think of him still as the same. I say,
He is not dead—he is just away.

I could go on for hours with stories... There was this one time Bob and I had hung out the night before sitting in a parkin lot drinkin... Alan Jacksons "Drive" came on and we sang along at the top of our lungs. The next day we were at work and the song came on again. Bob cut out 2 paper plates into a steering wheels and threw one over to me. We held them up in the air and pretended like we were driving. Another time we were waiting for the layoffs and we had discussed that we could go do more Olde Time Reality work or haul trash or do something more exciting than sitting at LSI so we mad "pick me" signs to try to get laid off... we were ignored... We had lots of great times together. He was my best guy friend ever.

Although I never got to meet Bob I felt like I knew him. My late husband Izzy was a good friend of Bob's and told me of some of their adventures. Izzy passed away not quite six months after Bob. I like to think they are riding together again in Heaven. RIP Bob.
