There will never be another man like Bobby Joe Kimbrell. He was a man's man but also be so tender, loving, and sweet. It's been 8 years since he left me and not a day, a night, a hour, or a min go by that I am not accutely aware of his passing. I found out today that our nation has passed a mandate that today, July 20th of each year will be recongnized as National Glioblastoma Day. Till now little has been known about glioblastomas. Every year about 140,000 Americans are diagnosed with this deadly cancer. It is, by far, the deadliest and most aggressive cancer to be diagnosed. Eight years ago there was a greater that 98% mortality rate. Eight years later those numbers have not changed. Sadly it was grouped with .any other different types of cancers. Now it is being recognized due to it's own aggressive nature. It is singled out in it's own right. What is shameful is that it took Senator John McCain and Sentor Ted Kennedy dying from it for Sen Lindsey Graham to bring it before the Senate to make this day once a year into National Glioblastoma Day so that more money can be donated to new research and development of treatments and potential cures of this disease. Bobby would find it amusing that the day he died signaled the beginning of recognition of this horrible type of cancer that takes away your loved one way before his body ceases to breathe. So, today, this day, take a moment to remember Bobby and his belief that everyone could give a little of themselves to help a fallen friend or neighbor and pray to be half as good as Bobby was to his fellow man. He was great husband, a greater Dad and the best grandD could ever have. Thank you Bobby for making me the luckiest woman in the world and for asking me to be a part of your life.
