Obituary - Bob Duplantis

Robert John (Bob) Duplantis , 75, passed away June 10th, 2021. Bob was born in Havana, Cuba on May 8th, 1946, to Hubert L. and Odilia Engerran Duplantis of Louisiana. Bob grew up primarily on the East and West coasts of Costa Rica, and spoke fluent Spanish. He came to the US as a teen, graduating from Saint Leo College Preparatory School in Saint Leo, FL, and receiving his BS degree from Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux, LA.

Bob was predeceased by his parents and brother Don Duplantis, in Baton Rouge, LA, and also his Daughter-In-Law Halle James Duplantis (Dakota's mother).

Bob is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Debby Fisher Duplantis of their home in Lakeway, TX ; his sons Robert  J Duplantis, Jr. (wife Terri & daughter Alexa Roberts) and Jason Duplantis, (wife Crystal, as well as his daughter Dakota Alguire, her husband Trey, and sons Brian & Dean), all of Texas, and Joel Duplantis (daughter Abigail Mackenzie Duplantis) of N.C.

Other survivors include his sister Carolyn Duplantis Greaud of VA, her children: Valerie, John, Denise and Michelle, seven  grandchildren, (all of their spouses) and seven greatgrandchildren who live in various states.

Bob is further survived by his stepson Scott Sharp (wife Emily and their sons Will and Brandon) of Austin.

Bob was employed by Exxon as an accountant for over thirty years, in Louisiana and Texas, honing his computer skills. He and Debby have enjoyed living in  the Lakeway area for more than twenty years. Bob was an avid golfer from his teenage years, and he and his sister Carolyn both admired Tiger Woods's extraordinary talents. Bob could fix/repair just about anything- much learned from his dad. You were fortunate to be invited to share meals in the Duplantis home, as he was a wonderfully creative, diverse and adventurous cook!

For many years, Bob and Debby have been very active members of Lake Travis United Methodist Church. Among his many ministries, his greatest involvement may have been with The Greater Austin Emmaus Community, helping so many strengthen their faith on 'Walks to Emmaus'.
