I went to the UW with Brett way back in 1973. We used to talk at length about Life. We called them "Reality Sessions". He was a very patient, loving, honest and generous soul. He opened his home to me when I was a homeless merchant mariner fresh off my first ship. I am moving to Spain and was hoping to catch up with him to share some of his wisdom and experiences. Though our lives have not crossed paths over the years, I have always felt a closeness to him as a kindred spirit. That closeness remains and shall remain forever. Though he has passed a few years ago, my grief is fresh. He was a friend.

To Brett's family: We live next to the house where Brett lived before he was even married or even had children. We experienced him as a very gentle person & we were sorry when he moved out but even more sad when he came by to chat w/ us a few months before he died to tell us that he was dealing w/ terminal brain cancer. We have been praying for him ever since & did not hear about his death until I started checking the internet & found out he's been gone for 8 months. Our sincere sympathies to all of his family. Gemma & Jerome Thielges on S.E. 23rd St.

I grew up next door to Brett. When I was younger I didn't know him too much. I only knew him as the gum guy & dog guy next door. When I grew older we grew closer through our shared interests in Spain and the gym. We would both workout frequently at La fitness and spontaneously see each other. Every time we saw each other we would spark up a conversation and in the end I would always be more inspired or enlightened on how to improve my gym life. We would also talk often as we headed out to our cars; always getting updates on each other’s life, what’s new, and our future plans. Later I left to Spain and after I got back we talked about how cool Spain is. e knew excatly where all the fun places were before I mentioned it, it was so cool to share a amazing time I had with someone who got to experience the same thing. Brett was a role model to me because he showed me how to always keeping a positive mindset even when it seems impossible. R.I.P Brett. You will be missed.

Brett ( A Beautiful Soul )

I first met Brett while working at Dairgold in Issaquah. I knew the very first time I met Brett That I liked this person. You have probably  experienced this sometime in your life time where someone touches your soul. Brett did that to me. I have never met anyone, which I knew for 36 years, who was so kind, caring, and always had a smile the would have such a calming effect on me. I will truly miss that I didn’t get the chance to hang out more with Brett. Brett and I had many things we wanted to do together. One was to climbed Mt Rainier. All 14,408 feet of it! He loved to explore and I  was wanting explore with him. Maybe in my spiritual life I will get to do those things with my friend Brett:
