"Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." Proverbs 31:29
Dearest Mummy, if tears could bring you back, I know you’ll still be here with us, but we resign to God’s will and divine order. When all else wavered, you remained a constant presence in our lives. For God and your loved ones, you held back nothing and would have most gladly plucked out your eyes for any of your children. You were a rare beauty with a first-rate mind, yet you wore simplicity and humility like cloaks. Every moment in your presence felt like drinking from the fount of wisdom and knowledge.
Thanks for setting an unmatched standard of excellence in every sphere of life. Time and time again, I saw you share whatever you had with the less privileged even to your own hurt. You were a phenomenal human being; you were ever giving and forgiving even when you had ample reasons to be bitter and vengeful. You made a palpable difference in the lives of so many people. You were one of the most authentic people to ever walk this earth. Through the murky terrain of life, you hurdled life’s hurdles with grace, dignity and resolve. The brilliant light you so diligently lit now burns in our hearts, and in those of our children who will carry on your legacy of uprightness, sacrifice, courage, benevolence, truthfulness and shrewdness.
Even though our hearts are broken at your transition, our consolation/joy is that God called you home when you were certified to be of heavenly quality, like Ure says. I find great solace in knowing that in your latter years, you renounced unscriptural dogmas as you embraced the sincere milk of the Word. By the mercies of God, you put aside the superfluity of naughtiness, and received with meekness the engrafted word which was able to save your soul. God willing, when I cross that pearly gate, yours will be one of the first faces I shall look out for.
Till we meet to part no more, be rest assured that, by the grace of God, we shall take care of one another as you taught us, and strife to enter through the narrow gate as you have done. You were one of the greatest blessings of my life, and I shall deeply miss you! Undoubtedly, you fought the good fight, you finished the race, and you kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for you the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, promised to give on that day to all who have loved His appearing- 2 Timothy 4:7-8. Hallelujah! Onye obioma, Ada Zion, Agu-nwanyi, M-Kings… Laa n’udo! I Love you forever, Mummy dearest!
