Her Life
October 15, 2014

CAROL HOPE ST. MONICA HOWELL ROBINSON was born on October 20, 1944 in Colonel’s Ridge, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies.  Cee, as she was affectionately called, was the second of ten children of the late Allan and Nesta Howell.

Carol received her early education at Mount Carmel Elementary School in Colonel’s Ridge and the Preceptor’s Institute in Kingston, Jamaica.  In 1962 she migrated to England to be trained as a nurse.  She graduated  in 1965 as a registered nurse from Edgeware Hospital School of Nursing and subsequently became certified in midwifery  at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. Carol lived and worked in London before relocating to New York with her family in 1974. She joined the nursing staff at  Mt. Sinai Hospital  in Manhattan and continued to serve there for thirty-five years until her retirement in 2009.  In 2004 she was among those honoured at the Mt. Sinai Employee Recognition Event for outstanding service to the hospital.

Carol was devoted to and lived for her large immediate and extended family. She especially treasured her role as grandmother to her beloved grand-daughter, Taylor. She did everything in her power to assist family members. No one who called on Carol for a favour got turned down if she was able to assist. Her family will certainly miss her cheerful, helpful, generous and loving personality. Her warm and ever present dimpled smile will remain in our hearts forever.  We thank God for blessing us with her presence and the years that she spent with us.

Carol loved her church.  She worshipped in the Bronx until she relocated to Spring Valley, New York. She then attended Gracepoint Gospel Fellowship where she thoroughly enjoyed the worship services and the great fellowship with others.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2014, Carol made her peaceful transition to heaven. Two sisters, Verna and Pauline predeceased her in 1997 and 2008 respectively.

She is survived by husband, Lambert; three daughters Nadine, Lorraine, and Shantrice; beloved grand-daughter, Taylor; four sisters Joy, Winsome, Valerie and Pearletta; three brothers Allan, Jr., Michael and Barrington, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
