*** Updated 8/17 ***
We have a date and time for Charlene's memorial service. Wednesday August 26, 3-6 pm
Arcade Phalen American Legion Post 577, 1129 Arcade St. Saint Paul, MN
In this time of COVID19 we are so very fortunate to have this opportunity to gather and are grateful to Post 577 for their assistance.
We do have a limit of 120 people in the space at a time. The use of mask's as outlined by the State of Minnesota guidelines for inside public spaces is also required. But we know that working with each other we can all honor her memory together.

Charlene died unexpectedly in her home in St Paul, Minnesota early Wednesday morning of causes not yet determined.

Charlene was a devoted mother to her three children, actively involved in her community volunteering with The St Paul Police Department as an advocate and information resource for their work in the autistic community as a parent of an autistic child. She additionally volunteered for their annual Christmas “Shop with Cops” event enabling children with hardships the ability to purchase gifts for their family members. Charlene was also active with the American Legion Post 577 and Post 474. Charlene turned her love of shopping into a gift to the community assisting both Posts in providing gifts and necessary items to families in need.

She extended herself beyond these organizations with a long of list of individuals for whom she was a point of reference, everything from directing them to the best resources for baby bottles to housing. If she believed you were in need of milk and unable to afford it she would arrive with two gallons and an additional five bags of groceries, grinning.

Charlene was proud to be a member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and maintained active involvement for herself and her children in many tribal events.

Charlene is survived by her children: Leslie Ray Redmond, Frederick Ray Redmond and Devonte Ray Burns; her Grandson Bra’Shawn Crew; her mother Lois Flor, god mother Prudence Stewart and birth mother Patricia Ray; as well as her siblings, Dana Flor, Greg Flor, Derek Flor, Cyndee Churchill, Stacy Kelly, Leslie Garrett and Louis Garrett.

Interestingly, I didn't know that Charlene was not actually a family member. She was ALWAYS at EVERY family event so I assumed she was family. Now I know she was my cousin from another auntie : >  Still shocked that she's not here and it will feel strange at the next family gathering not to see her smiling face. Charlene, you left an awesome legacy! I had no idea how active you were in your community. I do know when we chatted you were a wealth of information. I remember one family gathering when a little girl was terrorizing younger kids and you waited around to speak to her parents. FEARLESS GIRL!!  Now you'll be able to do so much more from heaven, but your physical being is Thoroughly Missed. I'm not going to say Rest in Power because I know your active behind is in no way resting. You're up there doing something, I'll bet money on it! I'm sure you had a HOST of people waiting for you at the heavenly gates saying "Well-done baby girl, well done" I wish you well in your new life and when you see Syl, Gary, Granny and all the rest of the Aunties, Uncle's and cousins give them a shout out and a hug for me.

Ms Charlene was so cool man. I met her this past yr while working with her daughter Leslie. First it was through video chat but then I finally met u face to face. I couldn't believe how much her and Leslie looked and sounded alike...like twins fr lol. The last time I saw u was when I picked up Leslie for our lunch date and ms Charlene was snapping lol. It was so funny cuz mama didnt play. Ms Charlene, I know we didnt know each other very long but I've been friends with your daughter for a few years so I felt like I already knew u. U will truly be missed. I promise to be there for ur daughter and grandson and be the best friend and support system that I can be. Rest in Paradise Queen

I knew this lady since I was 9 years old. she was such a strong lady, she always had a considerate heart ,trying to help other people even though she was going through so much. She had a rough childhood and never really got to have a bond with her biological mother, thats why she became the best mother to her children she could be. Damn Mann, I can’t believe your actually gone. Everytime I saw ms.charlene I knew we were about to have fun, taking us to back to school rally’s,Christmas parties, carnivals etc. damn man. Say hey to sugar for me, I know you up there hugging your mom so tight. Stay strong Leslie, Frederick and devontae peace and blessings to your family
