Charles served in the US Navy during WWll and in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart during WWll.

Charles grew up in Mifflin, Pa, Juniata County. He was the father of three children: Charles Edward, Jr.; Linda Marie and James Richard ll. He had 5 grandchildren and now there are 9 great-grandchildren. He was a hard worker and loved working in the outdoors on his small farm.
